Located two miles beyond the Taos Ski Valley Resort, the Bavaria Inn is definitely a destination place ... but worth the effort. Authentic German in every way: atmosphere, dress, menu, beer and hospitality. I had jagerschnitzel with mashed potatoes smother in thick mushroom gravy with red cabbage. Terrific! And the beer, all German, was outstanding. I would have liked to...

You wouldn't expect to find good German food in the mountains above Taos but that's exactly what you will find at the Bavarian! There's a patio on the front of the restaurant that looks directly at the mountain and the ski runs. When you enter the restaurant you will immediately feel like you somehow ended up in Germany! Checkered curtains,...

We eat here weekly summer and winter. Food is usually great. Service is variable. If you go early on Saturday or Sunday, before noon, all things will be good. If it is between 1-3, be prepared for a wait and cranky waitstaff. There are not enough of them. Smile a lot, don't ask where your food is and maybe your...

We went in the summer and drove up. It was a climb but worth it. The open chairlift runs from in front of Bavarian. Lovely facility with Swiss chalet architecture. Main area has logs, sheep skins to sit on, and fireplace. Outside has large wooden porch that faces mountain. Great service. Good food-we had the pretzel w baked Camembert, walnuts...

Wow! What a find in the middle of northern New Mexico! If you love beer, you should visit solely for the Andech's - tasty, tasty! The food was very well prepared - the spaetzle (noodles/dumplings) were excellent and the wurst was superior - seemed to be first quality. Excellent service (even though the place was PACKED on 4th of July)....

The food here is good (as is all the food on the mountain) but the place really has a lot of character/atmosphere that makes it worth a visit. The structure is made of wooden beams and the decor is rustic (stuffed animals, wooden tables, lambskin throws on the bench seats, costumed waitresses). It makes for a fun meal on the...

I have eaten here twice in two years. Last year, I had sausages and beer. This year, it was a burger and fries and beer. Maybe I am just too American because I preferred the burger, which was better than average. Oh, man, the location is superb. Dress warmly if you sit outside and bring sunscreen. Your beer will not...

Tuesday is Fondue night at the Bavarian. We ordered both beef and cheese, which made for a BIG meal. We couldn't have had better service or food. If you want to experience a European tradition at Taos Ski Valley, then book a table for Tuesday's Fondue Night. The staff is very friendly and efficient.

My teenage twins and I had an early dinner at The Bavarian in late July. Everything we ordered was delicious and reasonably priced. Although none of us are fans of German food, we all found something good to eat. The only downside is that the road up to the restaurant is dirt (unpaved) and super pot-holey.
