This is an accommodation which is nice for a stop-over and only for sleeping, but not if you are looking for a relaxing home-base. Me and my boyfriend stayed for three days in a room on the first floor which hadn't been renovated yet like the other rooms (on the ground floor). It had quite a dank smell, of water that has been hanging around too long. The bed was quite hard and uncomfortable (I think for a one-night stay it would be fine) and there was no reading lamp. So if my boyfriend wanted to sleep and I wanted to read, someone had to compromise. The only outside space is a terrace where you can order dinner in the evenings, but the lights go off after dinner, so you cannot relax and sit outside on your own in the evenings. The family who runs the place is lovely though, and the lady/mother of the house is amazingly friendly. She does the cooking for the guests herself. One time we were asking if they had pizza. It wasn't on the menu but then she just disappeared off into the kitchen for almost an hour cooking pizza for us! Another plus is that there is a parking area on the premises and breakfast included. The breakfast is simple but it was all we needed to start our day.

Our host welcomed us warmly and gave us a new renovated room. The interior was nice and clean, obviously. SInce the romm was to the main street triple windows keep the noise out. There is also a restaurant in the hotel, but closed on Mondays (where we arrived). You have to go to the station across the bridge, there is a pub full with local people. The name is Balsa, see different review. Breakfast (optional) is simplpe, but good. Freshly made coffee is perfect. Fresh rolls with marmelade were perfect for us. Good value for three Euros per person. Worth for some overnight stays in the area. Our review is written on the background of this hotel. Its not a five star, its a simple but good one star hotel. Be not afraid to stay here. This hotel differs much from the standard rooms you find in the big chains.

We needed a place for a stopover in Vila Real, and this option proved quite convenient. For the price it was quite alright - the rooms were clean and spacious enough and the stuff was friendly (although a bit drunk). There is free parking and free WiFi (even though it didn't work in our room), and even a simple breakfast is included. However, you should not expect any high standards. The place is a bit shabby, the toilet flushing didn't work at the beginning (they fixed it for us straight away, though), and the breakfast is as simple and cheap as it can get.
