This B&B is terrific - lovely room, great breakfast and, best of all are the stunning views. If you stay, wake up long enough at sunrise to see the light - magic. Our hosts were welcoming and gracious despite our late arrival Highly recommended.

We had to go to Elgin but had no desire to stay in Elgin, so looked around and decided on Denhead Steading, Ythanwells. I am so glad that I selected Sue's lovely and homely B&B. Received a lovely warm welcome and tea & biscuits in the residents longe. We had a lovely cosy bedroom, very clean and even permitted to have...

We only stayed one night but was made to feel welcome as soon as we arrived and really felt at home. Sue and Phil (and Millie the dog) are fantastic hosts who really go the extra mile for their guests. Our young daughter was treated like a Princess and little touches like Sue bringing her a glass of milk at...

Difficult to say just how excellent our stay at Denhead Steading was. The owners did everything possible to help us out and make us feel at home - way above and beyond the call of duty. Superb breakfasts, comfortable room, nice dog and cats and so many wonderful swallows. And the area is so just so quiet and peaceful. Very...

As last year, our friends were still refurbishing there smallholding. So it was a no brainer to book with Sue and Phil again. Everything I wrote last year is still valid. I cannot recommend Denhead strongly enough. If the quality itself is not enough for anyone, then the value for what a stay costs is imho second to none.

So wonderfully warm and welcoming, located on a picturesque farm in Scotland. We were totally pampered at this beautiful B and B - fires in the wood stove, games to play, a pot of tea offered to us upon arrival, fluffy robes in our room. Even the shower was wonderful (even pressure, the right temperature right away). Breakfast was delicious,...

We spent a very comfortable night here. Our hosts couldn't have been more welcoming and helpful. They went out of their way to cater for our needs and made a reservation for us for an evening meal at a nearby hotel. Breakfast was superb - including sausages made with meat from their own pigs! The room was spotless and there...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Whether you are just passing through or staying longer we welcome you to Denhead Steading set amidst two acres of garden ground surrounded by Aberdeenshire farmland. We would like to make your stay as comfortable as possible. Denhead Steading has two en-suite bedrooms and a family bedroom with private bathroom. All rooms have a television with DVD, hospitality tray and safe deposit box. There is an iron and ironing board upon request. A guest lounge and open fire and free wi-fi is available throughout the house. There is ample off road parking and lock up facilities for bikes if required. We are situated halfway between the historic towns of Huntly and Inverurie in the Northeast of Scotland. There is easy road access from the A96 for guests who drive. The airports of Aberdeen and Inverness are respectively 45 and 90 minutes away by car. Trains run regularly from Aberdeen to Inverness with stops at Inverurie, Insch and Huntly where local car hire services can be arranged. Ideal for walkers, photographers or just sightseeing . Fancy a spot of fishing, there is the River Deveron or Loch Insch Fishery which has three lochs, providing trout fishing. Or for the more adventurous there is the Nordic Ski Slope in Huntly. Come and explore and follow our beautiful coastline (165 miles of it!!) which boasts spectacular cliffs, pretty coves, empty beaches and old fishing towns. Castle Trail - There are over 300 castles to choose from! Many within an hour's drive from Denhead. From spectacular, fairy-tale, romantic or Royal splendour to ruins. Slains Castle known as Dracula's Castle (at present declared unsafe to go round but can be seen easily from the roadside) is believed to be the author Bram Stoker's inspiration for his famous novel Dracula, it is believed early drafts had Dracula coming ashore at nearby Cruden Bay! Or perhaps the beauty of Fyvie Castle with its 13th century beginnings to the grandeur of its Edwardian interiors, well-manicured gardens and tea room. This is just a few, please feel free to ask for more information on the whereabouts of other castles and I will endeavour to help. Distilleries too numerous to note! Glendronach being the closest to us approximately 10 mins away has superb tours and was one of the first licenced distilleries in Scotland and was one of the last to heat the stills by coal fires. Garioch Distillery half an hour away which is one of the oldest operating distillieries in Scotland and Glenfiddich Distillery about 40 minutes away, a family run distillery for generations. Please feel free to ask for further information. There is a local pub and a restaurant which serves wholesome food 15 mins away, I would be glad to book and make reservations for you. There are numerous eateries in the various towns, again I would be only too happy to advise. ... more   less
