Spacious and cozy room, warm and delicate service, delicious food ........the most of all is the view of our room. I really love the Japan Sea and the Noto Peninsula, the sea birds.....all of them painted a poetic picture that I won,t forget the rest of my life.

This famous ryokan is located in Nanao, Noto Peninsula, and had been one of the top Japanese onsen ryokan, receiving a lot of awards throughout the years. However, unlike the normal ryokan Kagaya has integrated the traditions into a modern high-rise building, and with a strong emphasis on the okami culture, with a dedicated okami for us throughout the stay....

The Kagaya Onsen (or spa) is an enormous establishment on the Noto Peninsula in the west of Japan and many rooms have views out to the sea. It is enormously popular with Japanese and other Asian visitors and the Western guest will be in a small minority. The rooms are large and furnished Japanese style with tatami mats for sleeping,...

As a western tourist, Kagaya was an experience unlike any other. Somehow blending a normally quiet and zen-like ryokan atmosphere with a huge over the top Vegas experience, Kagaya was able to make those polar opposites work. The hospitality and graciousness throughout the resort was heartfelt, the food was quite good, and our first experience sleeping on the floor was...

Stayed here while on a large family trip to Japan. The hotel is best known for it's impeccable service, and the staff did not disappoint. Upon arrival, we were greeted by a group of hotel employees - some dressed in traditional kimono wear, others in suits - who welcomed us to the hotel. As we settled into our tatami suites,...

We were a little skeptical about sleeping on the floor but turned out to be quite comfortable. The suites were just beautiful with all the little rooms. There were two full size chairs in the room. It was a little challenging getting up off the floor but not bad. The view from the room is stunning of the sea. The...

A fantastically beautiful structure with old style bedrooms. I can't say I liked sleeping on a fouton on the floor as getting up is a little difficult but for one nite it is bearable. The Japanese dinner was great and filling Personally the baths were no big deal They are just hot water Not my bag

Came here for a seaside hotspring stay in Nanao. The shuttle bus met us at the train station (Wakuraonsen) coming from Kanazawa. Location is really great, right on the water, great views and spacious. The facilities, however, are a bit dated. It's about time for a renovation. Everything feels like it is 5+ years old (marks on the walls, stains...

The tradition of Japanese spirit of hospitality and service is not only preserved but excelled at Kagaya Ryokan. A warm and sincere greeting. Anticipation and fulfillment of guest's needs. Give a warm and "lasting" farewell. Kagaya executed these procedures to its highest level in form and substance. From the moment you arrived to even after you checked out driving away...

Much has been written describing what it is like to stay at the Kagaya. What I would add is that after staying at a traditional ryokan, staying here at the Kagaya is like staying at a huge glitzy hotel frequented by the Japanese that has ryokan style rooms. Like a ryokan, everyone wears yukatas, (cotton kimonas), and there is also...
