Loved my stay at the Seventh Door (Shuzan). The staff were lovely, the room was basic but nice, the breakfast was great, the onsen was awesome (they have inside and outside). It is very Japanese, the staff don't really speak english, which is fun. My accom' was arranged by PowerRecon and they far surpassed my expectations with their excellent guiding....

Hotel Shuzan, or referred to in English as Seventh Door (you need to know the Japanese name if you want to find it), has seen better days. There are some pleasant areas in the hotel, indicating an elegant past, but other areas are in serious need of refurbishment. The hotel is in a great location, easy walk to Akakura Onsen...

Also called the Seventh Door or 7th Door Ryokan. Dingy, musty smelling and rundown - in desperate need of a renovation. Spacious rooms and comfy clean bedding, although a little short for my 5'11" husband. Pretty cold in the rooms, although that made for good sleeping. Nice onsen - indoor and out, but no view from the outside pool. I...
