This is a warm family run hotel close to Akakura Onsen ski slope and rooms are clean. We spent a week there. Daisuke san is very nice and helpful during our stay. We really appreciated his effort in helping us on our lost baggage. Price is reasonable for an ensuite room. That would be perfect if the onsen is renovated.

Had a wonderful stay with my wife at Akakura Wakui. Very comfy room with Japanese sitting area and Western style beds. Hosts Daisuke and Maree were very helpful. Great location. 2 minute walk to Akakura Onsen lifts. Very close to shops/food. I'd buy the Kanko/Onsen dual pass and ski over to the Kanko side. Did some nighta ski too which...

We spent 3 nights at Akakura Wakui Hotel, Daisuke san was very friendly and helpful. He emailed us to find out when we were arriving at the train station so he could come pick us up. The hotel really is just a few minutes walk to the chair lift and just a few minutes to the Main Street in town....

Daisuke san and his staff went out of their way to make sure we enjoyed our week at his hotel. Our Japanese language deficiencies were no match for their efforts in helping us get to where we needed to be on time and well prepared. On check-in we were upgraded to a large room with a view over the adjacent...

The friendly hosts have made our stay at this hotel very worthwhile. The hosts were generous with their time and advice, which included making restaurant bookings. The Akakura Wakui Hotel offers comfortable rooms in both Western and Japanese style. It is in an excellent location - less than a minute from a ski lift or shuttle bus. We enjoyed two...

It was not without some concern we approached Myoko without directions to the hotel The driver on our transporter Nagano Snow Express solved it in a generous way of driving all the way to the entrance. The reception was flawless, lots of information, offered discounts on lift tickets and more. We chose the western style japanese room with sitting area...

We have just come back from Wakui hotel. Here are pros and cons: Pros: 1. Good location about 10min walk to Kanko and 2-5min walk to Onsen slopes. The good location means you do not need a shuttle bus. We sent our kids to Myoko Snowsports which is on the Kanko side and we did not walk to the onsen...

We stayed with the very friendly owners of the Hotel whilst skiing the area just prior to new year. The facilities were generous by Japanese standards and the on site Onsen was an added bonus. The hotel is located a 5 minute walk away from the Akakura ski field lifts and once there, both side of the mountain can be...

The rooms were very spacious and quiet. We chose a western style room with conventional beds but it had a very comfortable tatami area to sit and make tea. The drying cupboard was great for ski gear too. Fresh robes and towels are replaced daily. We loved the onsen area and showered here rather than in the small ensuite. The...

Spent a few days at this hotel. Very convenient location- 2 minutes walk to a chairlift and 1 minute walk to the Main Street of the village Our room overlooked one of the ski runs on the Onsen side which was lovely. The room had a single bed and 3 futons were laid out which was great for our family's...
