This is actually the third time I've stayed at Kogakuro which indicates how much I enjoy being here for my annual dose of snow. Mieko and her team are so kind and welcoming and really make the place a home away from home. The location is brilliant as it is right by the village and all the izakayas and restaurants...

We stayed for seven nights and the hotel is wonderful, the staff are extremely friendly and the owner speaks perfect english and was on hand to help us from booking trains, restaurants and even discussing which ski resort to visit for the next day. She even arranged a drop off at the train station very early in the morning. The...

We have nothing negative to stay about this place. The owner Mieko is wonderful, and took us in at the last minute when the original hotel we stayed at turned out to be sub-par. The whole place is very well-kept runs smoothly. The rooms are tidy, spacious and warm -- the perfect place to come back to after a day...

Just had a great stay at this hotel. Rooms lovely, great onsen with outside bath too. Breakfast was the best I've had in several trips to Japan. Best of all was the lovely host who spoke perfect English. She arranged for pick up in our next destination where the staff spoke little English. And she has just arranged for my...

Kogakura is located at a very convenient spot. Owner (Mieko) and staff went out of their way to ferry my family to neighbouring ski resorts due to the lack of snow in the surrounding ski slopes. Room was nice and cosy and large enough to accommodate a family of 4. Price was reasonable for the high level of service that...

We were very lucky to get in to the Kogakuro after a last minute cancellation. The staff were incredibly helpful and the facilities were great. We arrived and left in a blizzard and while not the hotels doing we were again blessed with amazing snow in Myoko. We somehow jagged the only western room in that part of the hotel...

Three of us stayed for 5 nights towards the end of March, arriving on a Saturday evening when we were met at Myoko Kogen station. If Akakura Onsen has a centre, this is pretty much next to it. Restaurants, ski rentals, shops and shuttle stops are just down the drive. The walk to the nearest lift with boots and gear...

Visited Myoko with my husband and a friend and was delighted with the size of the room - there was a sitting room separate to the sleeping area. The in house onsen was the best after a day of skiing, I used it pretty much everyday! Very close to a ski lift in Akakura, take it up and it's an...

We have just spent 3 nights here staying in traditional Japanese rooms with tatami matting and futons. The hotel is made by its friendly helpful staff headed by Meiko. We were collected from the station by Meiko's husband which was great as we had so much luggage between the 7 of us! The onsen experience was fantastic, we loved dressing...

We stayed at kogakuro for 5 nights recently and couldn't really fault it! The staff were so, so helpful! The rooms were large and comfortable - just what we needed after big days skiing! There are no private shower but the onsen area was really lovely and we enjoyed using it daily! The breakfast buffet is delicious! And the location...
