We loved this place. We stayed in the treehouse and it has been one of the best experiences we had. You are very close to nature, you sleep and feel the breeze of the sea and hear the crickets. If you are afraid to bugs is not the place for you. We were not bitten by anything and we only...

Thank you. You are right, this place is not for everyone and that's a good thing as we are lucky to have many guests like you who keep returning year after year. Thank you for all your praise of the place and especially of our team.

Playa Viva is exceptional. The place itself is amazingly beautiful and laid back. The food is off the charts delicious. And the staff are second to none. We were a family of 5 with 3 small kids. It's was the best disconnected/reconnecting family vacation we could have imagined. The only thing I'd note is that the currents at the beach...

It was so quiet that hummingbirds visited the large hibiscus flowers blooming just off my front porch as I did yoga. If four little boys got into the hot tub and ran in the same direction, singing a silly song, the hot tub formed a perfect whirlpool. The tide pools were full of enough shells to satisfy the most enthusiastic...

Beyond the stunning beach front setting, exquisite natural architecture, and amazing healthy meals 3 times a day, what I loved was the quiet. No loud music, no kids screaming, NO ONE on the beach for miles. It feels like your own private paradise. The staff is incredible with professional yoga teachers and massage therapists at your beck and call. The...

I went here for a long weekend with my husband and a bunch of friends and we all just had such a wonderful time. We felt welcome and home the first moment we walked in and were greeted by their wonderful staff (and their dog Viva) who told us about their environmentally friendly practices and activities in the area. All...

We stayed here in late March 2016, to celebrate 25 years of marriage. It is stunning. Don't expect every modern conveniences - it's not that kind of place. You come here to relax, recharge and get away from modern life. The location is right on the beach - the sound of the waves is pervasive. The beach goes on as...

I booked a solo trip to Playa Viva for a yoga retreat through International Yoga. I was excited to escape the Chicago winter (I went in January) and take a week to zen out. It was about about a 35-40 minute cab ride from the airport, but the cab fare was covered by the hotel. I just tipped the driver....

The first sight of the beach and the casita we would be staying in at Playa Viva for the next five nights was enough to make us forget the fact that it had taken us 24 hours to get there from our home in San Francisco. The travel nightmare can be discussed elsewhere. There are only 12 casitas on the...

Nestled on a long, otherwise undeveloped stretch of beach, Playa Viva provides a complete break from life's ordinary cares in a beautiful, rustic setting. The entire length of the resort is just steps from the ocean, the sound of which accompanies you day and night. The food is delicious, and much of it is grown on site; the sleeping quarters...

This is our fifth time to Playa Viva, and it's as perfect as ever. Fascinating guests to get to know, perfectly healthy food in great abundance, yoga and massage each day, and long walks along the beach. We are staying in the new tree house cottage, with the beautiful ocean waves crashing down just across the path from our room....
