This hotel is a short walk from the shopping street in Miyajima. When I checked in about 3pm, the hotel staff was very careful to explain to me in English that the island is "very peaceful at night". I had only 3-4 restaurants to eat dinner at the shopping street and the whole island could be a bit dark as... More

We loved this hotel, service was excellent. We got off the ferry with our suitcases and saw a car with mokoto hotel on the side, asked if they were from the hotel, they gave a lift there, we hadn't booked the car, such great service. On arrival at hotel we were given green tea and a wet cloth, whilst we... More

Service at this hotel was wonderful - the two women we dealt with at the front desk went out of their way to be sure we had a wonderful stay. They escorted us to our room, drove us to the airport, noticed we were heading out on a walk when it was raining and chased after us to let us... More

The two of us enjoyed our stay at the Miyajima Hotel Makoto for 2 nights in July. A few stand outs in the experience: 1. the food was amazing. They were also accommodating of vegetarian restrictions--I'm not sure about soup stock or seasonings (I didn't ask) but they very kindly excluded pork, beef, and chicken for us. The entire meal... I stayed for one night. I was assigned the corner room toward the ocean side so that I could see whole east side of the island. Not luxury but clean hotel. Food was enough, too. I walked to the Itsukushima Shrine. That was a nice walk. A little walk from the ferry terminal.

Whilst I appreciate accommodation options are limited on such a small but beautiful island which drives up price but reduces choice this hotel is poor. The hotel is in a dire need of a full refurb I doubt it had been redone since opening prob when built c. 1960's. V dated, dirty stair carpets rooms tired and generally a creepy... More

The room I got was a traditional Japanese room with Tatami floors and Futon. It is complete with a Western Toilet and bath too. The room is spacious and the Futon is very comfortable. We went in March 2016 and it was really cold in Miyajima however the place is very well insulated and we did not feel cold at... More

This hotel stood out for us on our trip top Japan. This place is classy...Beautiful traditional breakfast and a wonderful onsen. Staff were amazingly helpful (could not do enough), The view across the bay from our room was beautiful. Be there for sunset to make the most of the view... Beers in the vending machine reasonable priced. Just fabulous.

This hotel was a lovely, but no frills accommodation. The traditional Japanese breakfast was amazing (but you have to have broader taste preferences than the traditional North American anglo-style breakfast. I went during cherry blossom season, so there were sakura everywhere. Ran into a local fawn in front of the hotel (they don't engage with people and are very gentle).... More
