A lovely place to stay in a good location right by the ferry terminal and convenient for all the sights. However, the things that make this place really special are the owner and her son and the outstanding food: The best we had in Japan. Large Japanese style room with small bathroom and separate loo, free wi-fi and comfortable bed....

On a 2 week visit to Japan and I have to say I had the best 2 nights sleep here out of all the places we stayed including high end Tokyo hotels. A wonderful welcome from the lovely owner and her son Teppei-San. We stayed for 2 nights in a traditional room overlooking the ferry terminal. As it was half-board...

Situated just across from the ferry terminal this small guesthouse is ideally located if you are with luggage. The owner is a lovely lady who speaks English and has a very friendly large black cat if you are lucky enough to meet him! We paid for the Ryokan room. Expensive but I guess you pay for the authentic experience. The...

We stayed in this hotel for a few nights and had great fun. The rooms have everything you need for a comfortable stay. We ate every night at the hotel restaurant. They served some of the best food we had eaten throughout our trip in Japan. Teppei was great fun and brilliant at explaining the different foods and how to...

We did not want to leave Miyajima it is such magical place full of beauty and history and Shinko-San the hostess is the sweetest person you could ever meet. She made us feel so welcome and her food was exquisite! The ryokan is located just across from the Pier so there is no reason not to stay here!

We only dined here for our dinner, but did not sleep here, so this review is only for the meal. Not a lot of restaurants are open at night, and this place was recommended by where we were staying. Prices were quite high, the most expensive we have experienced while in Japan, but this was reflective across the island. The...

Staying in the ryokan was fun, but have to mentally except that it is a traditional ryokan and does not come with much hotel amenities. The host and her son were warm and delightful, introducing us to the various Japanese cuisine, and taking pains to make us feel at home. Their warmth made up for the somewhat cold room. The...

Me and my husband were staying on the island and our hotel recommended this restaurant. we weren't quite sure what to choose so went for the sushi set meal - we ended up being really sad we hadn't chosen one of the set meal options as the food was outstanding as was the Miyajima beer. The sea bream head soup...

I had the full oyster meal. Definitely one for foodies. Start with four European style fresh oysters - with Japanese flavourings - then on to grilled oysters, battered fried oysters, oysters with rice and vegetables, oysters in a tofu and onion soup - you name it - every way the innovative Japanese serve oysters. Great with the white wine they...

This is a traditional Japanese Ryokan, so it involved sleeping on the floor and complying with old Japanese traditions, its owner Shinko - san is a delight. She was so helpful as we were European tourists starting a holiday in Japan. The tips and guidance she gave concerning the food helped us for the rest of our holiday. Now our...
