when we arrived we were greeted by a nice man but then walking up the stairs, the carpet was old, dingy and tired...when we go to our room we noticed a noise coming from either the kitchen or boiler room...this carried on all night, a loud buzzing/vibration noise. The room...well...the wallpaper was hanging off the walls, mould around the shower...

We stayed in August for a hen do. I read the feedback on tripadvisor was apprehensive and do agree the hotel itself needs some TLC, but the food was good value and a great evening meal. The rooms were ok nothing more than average really but the whole evening was lifted by the staff. Michael and his team went above...

I have stayed at the Punchbowl over the course of the last 18 months for business use, it is a bit tired but perfectly serviceable for that purpose. The staff are friendly and helpful, there is a large free car park on site.

Our room wasn't ready at check in time - when it was eventually ready it was very very tired and felt grubby and damp. Bathroom with damp patches and dirty grouting all around the bath. Bedroom carpet covered in stains. 1 night was more than enough and would not recommend.

The pro's of this hotel were limited, but there was a nice selection of food in the restaurant and the location was very close to the national trust site. The cons were quite extensive during our visit, hence why we have given it such a low score: -On arrival there was no cot in our room as requested, when this...

Problems with heating, hot water, beds too short and very uncomfortable, absence of hand towels and bath mat, shower just "dribbled", was dangerous to get in in out over side of bath due to absence of hand rail and lighting so dim it was very difficult to read. Never a 3 star!

This hotel is large and a bit dated, but they are trying hard. The décor is a bit mixed at the moment - part country/shabby chic and other parts more dated...so it's a work in progress. The rooms are a very good size and the bathroom and room facilities were all as you would expect in a 3-4 star hotel....

Stayed here for one night on business, staff helpful and polite, the room was of a good size with all the usual extras. The hotel itself however is in need of a lick of paint as they say, The breakfast was good and cooked to order with the usual continential selection as well. Overall was good value for money.

The hotel claims it is a 3 star hotel. I never stayed in such a dirty place from the smell of the bed to the state of the bathroom, this place needs to be renovated and cleaned! The service is on top of it very poor and staff unhelpful. I highly recommend finding an alternative hotel if you have to...
