As suggested by the topic, this is one of the most forigener friendly hotel in the area, judged by the level of easy access, multi-lingual signage and above average English proficiency of a small number of the staffs. This hotel is by no mean an outstanding establishment, but it does ease the frustration if you don't speak the Language. Location:...

Stayed here for a few nights one winter and loved it so much that I wish I stayed longer. The staff were very kind and thoughtful, and the room was wonderfully cozy. My favourite part was the variety of onsen, especially the cave bath! My partner doesn't usually enjoy onsens, but because they have family baths here and we could...

Stayed here for 1 night to experience a more traditional Japanese hotel. Its not actually a particularly old building but is operated in a very traditional manner. The staff spoke limited english apart form one of the gentleman. All the staff were incredibly kind and attentive. The room was very spacious and included a private bathroom and toilet. Don't expect...

Tsuru-ya Hotel is a traditional Japanese inn (ryokan) located in Zao Onsen (spa). There’s a long, winding drive up the mountain to get there. We were six in a van, and the people in the back-most seats had to have strong stomachs. You leave your shoes at the front entrance, and use their slippers. Whenever you want to go outside,...

Styed here for 4 nights with a lot of friends. We came here for snowboarding. This hotel is very clean and suitted in tranditional Japanese style. The onsen is great. Food is too delecious to describe. The service can't be great. Everyday we finished the snowboarding , the 女將 served us a cup of sweet wine to warm up our...

I will be ever thankful to the owners and staff at Tsuruya Hotel. When I injured my back skiing, they were so kind calling the ambulance, giving me a ride back from the hospital to the hotel, and being so caring and generous... Will definitively come back!!!

A pleasure to stay at Tsuruya. The staff provide a wonderful service and are fantastic. If i get the chance to go to Zao Onsen again I will definitely stay here. Tsuruya provide a transit service to the ski lifts and there is a drying room at the hotel, making it extremely easy to get to the snow.

First, hotel is just located opposite the Zao onsen bus terminal. I m not able to comment for all if the hotel is good location because for those who ski or snow boarding will need to walk a distance either 7mins to the nearest ropeway or about 15mins to the second ropeway for their activities. A convenience stall is located...

Great location, just directly across the Zao Onsen bus terminal, thus it was really easy for me and my family to locate it. We were greeted by friendly staff and the cozy hotel itself. What's more, there is free Wi-fi available at the hotel's lobby which was extremely helpful as well :) The hotel staff even took an extra step...

My son, wife and I wanted to experience a traditional Japanese hotel... this hotel completely exceeded expectations. We were warmly greeted and escorted to our room where we were served tea. The same woman later served us dinner and breakfast in a private room. This continuity enhanced our comfort. The staff are Japanese speaking and my son acted as interpreter....
