We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Uno Slope House. Uno Port is a great location from which to explore Naoshima. The house is very comfortable, with tatami bedrooms, and is a short walk from the town. We would also recommend the delicious food at Osakaya, and the fabulous onsen "Setouchi" (a short walk from the ferry terminal). The pancake breakfast... More

Great place to stay for an authentic experience staying in a local home. Enjoyed sleeping in a traditional room on tatami mats. Max the host made a fantastic pancake breakfast and gave us much insight into the local area. Nothing was too hard for him, we felt like we were visiting a friend, thanks Max. We loved this part of... More

As everyone else has said here, Uno Slope House is a great, inexpensive option for seeing the Benesse sites. We stayed for 3 nights, which gave us time to explore Naoshima, Teshima, and Inujima. We definitely recommend giving yourself time! Naoshima in particular is large and has so much to offer. The house and the room themselves were nothing remarkable,... More

We stayed for 3 nights in December. As others have noted, Max is a most generous and interesting host and the house is very comfortable-not flash but clean and homely. As it was fairly cold we had dinner each night at a nearby local restaurant (Max's recommendation for somewhere close) and that was terrific. One early evening I went to... More

We were very glad we stayed at Uno house. It felt very friendly and homely - a welcome change from impersonal hotels - and the host and his assistants went out of their way to assist us with transport, restaurants and the like. The location is a fabulous base for exploring Naoshima - we just wish we had more time!

Nice hostel with tatamis. The best of Uno, the Onsen. The cave of teshima is fantastic!and the older copper refinery magic. Benessee is very ampoulous. Not appropriate for the magic landscap of Seto islands

Uno Slope House is a perfect base for exploring the different art islands and Max was an excellent host! Apart from providing pick up from Uno station, he also provided much advice and information about the art islands even before we arrived in Japan. The house itself was also walking distance from the station and various food places in the... More

As has been said in the other reviews, Max was an excellent host. His care extended beyond picking & dropping us at the Station & Uno Port. By the time we reached Uno Slope House, on our trip around Japan, I was bursting with questions about Japan, it's culture, the people. As we don't speak Japanese, it was great to... More

Uno Slope House is indeed a perfect base for exploring Naoshima and Teshima and other islands. It feels great to return each evening to a real Japanese home in a typical local town and dine on good simple Japanese fare home-cooked by Shiori and her parents at Osaka-ya. Most of all, the experience would not have been the same without... More
