Perhaps the nicest place I’ve ever stayed! beautiful food, gorgeous view. Lovely hosts Only stayed for one night before commencing our 5 day pilgrimage walk on the Kumano Kodo but could have easily stayed for an entire week 10 out of 10
We spent our first night along the Kumano Kodo here and were so happy we did - the enthusiastic staff that greeted us when we arrived was our first clue this was a special place. We loved the rustic lodge feel coupled with all the amenities: cozy robes, amazing Onsen overlooking the mountains, roaring fireplace!, homemade plum wine, organic French and Italian wines, delicious meals( the mackerel at breakfast is NOT to be missed!), I could go on and on. Do yourself a favor if you’re hiking the KK- stay here or at the very least, stop here for lunch and enjoy Japanese hospitality at its best!
The lodge is located on top of a hill and overlooks the valley as well as an incredible panoramic background of the nearby mountain ranges. All rooms are situated so that you have this view from the sliding glass door of your room. Onsen at the lodging was beautiful. They are separated by sex with a window that overlooks a view of the mountain range. The room is large and included a private bathroom as well as a television and free internet. Sleeping on a futon was as comfortable as sleeping in a bed. This was a pleasant surprise for us. The dinner at the lodging was out of this world. The endless dishes were an incredible display of presentation and gourmet food. A culinary experience such as this is a lifetime experience not to be missed . The owner is a friendly gentleman who takes pleasure in entertaining all his guest. He was friendly and spoke excellent English and Spanish. If I could give this establishment 6 stars I would. Treat yourself to this experience. You won’t be disappointed. …
The lodge is located in the ridge top village of Takahara overlooking the Hatenashi mountain range. Beautiful views from the lodge over looking the valley below, the onsen are also great. The staff were very friendly and welcoming The meals are delicious with many of the ingredients being produced locally. Would surely stay there again
My wife, and I stayed at the “Organic Hotel” on 10/21 with an REI tour group that was hiking the Kumano Kodo & Nakasendo trails. We are now home, but we have brought with us so many wonderful memories. First, the hotel and rooms overlook the beautiful hills and village below. The meals were delicious and artfully presented Japanese dishes with a twist. The owner/operator, Jian, is the 'spice' that makes the dish! He brings his own travel experiences to the food preparation. Not only that, Jian is a warm and welcoming host. We can't wait to return and spend more time! Bill & Isabelita Stelzner
