We loved this hotel. The service was fantastic, the food delicious and an unexpected bonus was the friendliness of the rest of the guests. Many of them return year after year and were all great fun. Our room was traditionally furnished, very comfortable and spotlessly clean

Magnificent 1902 Country House, set in a big garden with spectacular giant ancient trees. Of course we knew before that this Mansion was antique and classic style, however to us, antique and outdated are different… Our room (Nethy) was in the in the attic, after a double

Thank you for taking the time to submit your review of your short visit to us in May this year. We would like to clarify some points which you have raised in your review, in particular your description of your bedroom which you selected and reserved quite some time in advance of your visit. We have no bedrooms located in the Attic! Please check your description of an Attic. Your bedroom was located on the second floor of the house, the bedrooms are smaller on this floor, as is the price –we describe quite clearly on our website room descriptions against each room, you have not been mislead, in fact you may recall when you mentioned in an e-mail that you would be travelling with your Mother, we enquired if the second flight of stairs would be suitable for your Mother – you replied “my Mother is good enough with the stairs” - we always offer assistance with luggage and we are certain that your luggage would also have been carried to your bedroom on your arrival by one of us. Your description of the location and stairs is misleading. Regarding the style of furniture in your bedroom, from reading your reviews of other properties, furniture is obviously important to you – the furniture you describe as outdated is actually quite modern – purchased from a local furniture shop within the last 3 years, the bedroom was redecorated 12 months ago and the wallpaper is a modern paper. The ineffectiveness of the curtains closing out the light has also been brought to our attention in the last few weeks, this is easy is to remedy, we will have a better block out solution for 2019. Regarding your point of breakfast not being memorable, a bit vague but maybe after 5 months it is quite hard to remember. With regards to quality and choice, we receive high compliments for our breakfasts on offer each morning – choices of Full Cooked Breakfast using the finest of local produce, Full Cooked Vegetarian Breakfast, Pancakes, Omelettes, Smoked Salmon, Kippers, Porridge, Cold Buffet options, Pastries, Fruit Juices, Cereals, Bircher Muesli, Fruit Juices, a vast array of herbal and speciality teas, not to mention the special diet options, perhaps if you had stated in your review what you were expecting or what was lacking, then we could have perhaps gained from your experience. Overall, for the price of £89.00 for you both inclusive of Bed and Full Breakfast, complimentary mineral water, bath robes, toiletries, Tea/Coffee facilities, the option of having services such as Dinner or Full Afternoon Tea, Packed Lunches, Full Bar Licence, Laundry, Free Wifi – the vast majority of our guests perceive this as excellent value for money. We treat all guests the same regardless of dress or travel mode and highly respect all of our guest’s precious vacation time, after 30 years of being in hospitality, we can still deliver genuine hospitality and most certainly are approachable should anybody have any concerns, we are available 24/7. It is worth remembering that Trip Advisor reviews submitted by guests should be accurate and designed to help prospective guests in planning their trip, therefore a review should be well rounded to reflect the establishment, the hospitality received, it’s facilities on offer and its location as well as value for money. Unfortunately we feel that given the fact that you visited over 5 months ago and have now only submitted a review, it is not particularly helpful and for this we can only rate it as 1 out of 5 for bringing to our attention the only valuable point regarding the curtains. Everybody is of course entitled to personal opinions and experiences, we feel that areas that are flagged up as requiring attention or improvement should be brought to the attention there and then, not 5 months later.

We stayed here for 2 nights at the end of July, and everything was as good as our previous stay in March last year. We had the same (Cromdale) suite as last time, partly through choice, but also because it was the only room that we could book for the 2 nights that we wanted in

Spent 3 nights in the excellent Ballindalloch room whilst using Tigh na Sgiath as a base for touring around the Cairngorms. Situated close to the small town of Grantown on Spey this stunning country house hotel is a relatively short distance from a small selection of shops,

Our room was in the "attic" and the adjacent bathroom had a very creaky door...leading us to feel like the house was haunted. It was October, and we were at the end of a long vacation, so our imaginations probably got the best of us... We would definitely recommend this place

Hello, are children allowed to stay here? We have a 2yr old. Thank you.
To my knowledge, children are accepted at the hotel. They do have family rooms and the hospitality is first class. Enjoy!

Hello Ashley, with regards to your question about the timings for High Tea - you need to book 24hrs in advance as everything is made to order and therefore incredibly fresh but they will serve it any time between 3-5.30. I have experienced their wonderful cream tea and highly recommend a glass or three of Prosecco with it!! If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.

how do one pronounce Tigh na Sgiath?
Hello all. I was curious about how to pronounce Tigh na Sgiath and asked Iain, the owner. This is what he said and how he suggested I remember it. 'Tigh is like 'tie that you wear with a shirt and jacket' na is just as it is written, and sgiath is like ' a downhill skier' Tigh na Sgiath - or Tie na skier Hope that helps!
