We booked this B and B back in March so we could attend a wedding just down the road from Surfside. The wedding was cancelled but we still decided to have a weekend getaway. We were pleasantly surprised at how much we enjoyed our stay here. We were greeted on the deck upon our arrival by friendly and knowledgeable staff member Serge. After we settled in we had some fish and chips at a take out just next door and headed to the beach - which is literally across the street! It was wonderful being steps away from a beach so we ensured we made several trips there. Breakfast is available for an extra cost and so worth it. We had he option of it being served on the outside deck or delivered to our room. Luckily it was a beautiful day so we could enjoy breakfast on the deck with a view of the beach. Serge was our server and gave us friendly and professional table service. We felt very welcome here.

My husband and I stayed at Surfside Inn in July and September this year and it is by far our favourite vacationing spot in Nova Scotia. Having sampled a number of commercial hotels and Airbnb's over the years, nothing has compared to our experiences here. Some takeaways: our hosts miss no opportunity to make us feel welcomed and appreciated; attention to detail accompanies every aspect of the stay, from the cleanliness and decor of the rooms, to the friendly, professional service while dining; having the option to stroll along Queensland beach and then retreat to the privacy of a comfortable suite is one of the best experiences we have had while away. We have stayed at Surfside over a dozen times in the last 10 years and cannot recommend it more highly (as much as we'd love to keep this hidden gem to ourselves). The team at Surfside always goes out of its way to make us feel at home and we've never been disappointed. It's a truly delightful place to land. As always, we're looking forward to our next stay!

Stayed overnight last week while travelling with my sister. We loved this place. Room was clean, comfortable and with a good price. Coffee and breakfast was served by Serge: fresh fruit, toast, eggs, yogurt, juice and granola. We were across the street from the beach and listened to the ocean surf at night. Couldn't have asked for more. I'd book it again easily.

Spent almost 170.00 for a basic room. The room was very dated and smelled very musty.
This place does not deserve even a one star rating.
There are very few places to stay in the area and the location is excellent as it is close to Queensland beach.
The room was very small and for the price one fo the lights in the bathroom was burned out. Really??? Staff could not replace a burned out bulb!
The bed as extremely old and way to soft from age.
Way to expensive for what you get and for the tiny size of the room.
I would not recommend this place nor would I go back.
They left us with 1/2 roll of toilet paper with no spare on stand by..........????
Next time, I am in the area, I will drive to Halifax and get a room for much cheaper and way better quality.

We had a perfect room. Thanks to the people with the dog who traded rooms with us!! :) Our front and side windows gave us a view of the water. I think we were actually in the honeymoon suite. This is a older BnB - with loads of character! Super clean and the bed was big and comfy. Shower had the water pressure you needed and if you wanted to soak in the tub. There was one of those as well. The gentleman that checked us in was really nice and helpful. We had a great stay here. Go walk on the beach!

Not my first - and definitely not the last time at this cozy and charming place! Very welcoming and caring hosts, amazing old Victorian style building, cozy rooms, tasty meals! Highly recommended if you want to escape from your routine or take a beak from a noisy town. The hotel is very well thought, and the owners are always ready to help you with anything you might need. Highly recomended.

Old house turned into an Inn, you can hear everything; running water in the pipes, next door talking, walking, etc.
We stayed there 3 nights, noise from upstairs every night; last night noise from upstairs at 1AM. I asked the receptionist to talk to the people upstairs, noise didn't stop yet for a while. Hard to get a good rest.
Only a couple of restaurants nearby, not opened in the morning, need to drive to nearby cities for breakfast or supper.
Way over rated!

Response from Natalie Toutsen, Owner at Surfside Inn
Responded Aug 22, 2023
We urge the guest to behave more appropriately at the next hotel he visits, which fortunately won't be here. It was unacceptable misconduct behavior - in the middle of the night demanding to go to the guest' rooms: Who are They? I Want to See Them Personally... He was also told the hotel' strict No to personal identification questions of any person at the property. ...The guest was staying in a room located in a new building addition approved in accordance with the Nova Scotia Building Code Regulations - in a room with new accommodation systems, new windows, hardwood flooring, high ceilings, brand new Beautyrest mattress, private whirlpool tub. Regards, Surfside

Booked a room in February for a June stay. Confirmation stated I would be charged on arrival. The following day they charged my Visa the full amount, more than four months early. They refused any modification. I cannot travel due to pandemic, and am out all the money.

A lovely, quirky old inn with lots of character. The management is friendly and very efficient. We received a upgrade to a large room with four poster bed, couch, chairs and coffee table. The spotless bathroom had a freestanding shower and double jacuzzi tub. We slept like logs. It is usually full and with good reason as it is quite reasonable.

ROOM:
My fiancee booked the Romance Package in July and we were not disappointed. I knew nothing of this and arrived to a beautiful antique inn with a jacuzzi, champagne and home-made truffles waiting for us in our room. The room was a cozy and perfectly clean, just beautiful.
FOOD:
The dinner at the Inn was exquisite. We ate as much chowder while in the Maritimes as possible and this took the prize for number 1. My salmon was outstanding and my fiancee's seafood pasta was just as awesome! This is high-class dining!
Breakfast was very good with home-made granola and fresh-fruit.
SERVICE:
This is a family-run inn and it feels like it! Inessa (I hope my spelling is correct) was a wonderful hostess (and the truffles chef) and took care of every detail and any questions we had.
We will always remember the Surfside Inn as a wonderful place where we got engaged!

Hello Roy, Sorry for the delay - and thank you for your interest in Surfside Inn. Unfortunately, we have a No Pets policy and are not able to accommodate any dogs/other pets. Our apologies for any inconvenience this might cause! Kind regards, Surfside Inn

Hello Rob! Thanks for helping out our future guest! It would be nice to have you with us again should you visit Nova Scotia :) @ Mike: We have both ramp and stairs leading to the reception. Our Bay suite is on ground floor and it has private entrance with ramp. Bathroom has a whirpool tub, and no handrails. We do have rooms with shower, but those are all on second floor and require stairs. Looking forward to your stay with us this summer!
