we stayed at Red Elephant camp for a nite with my friends as we wanted to visit Tsavo East early morning.... the rooms are okay-clean and friendly staff too.there is a nearby waterhole and we watched elephants, buffaloes and in the morning we actually enjoyed viewing wildlife just next to the fence. a quite and peaceful place.

Like a vast percentage of Kenyan accommodation this lodge is very run down. It is undergoing renovation but the cost of camping wasn't reduced. We managed to negociate. Cold shower in a disgustingly dirty room. No dish washing facilties or electricity. No wifi. Good view of wildlife in Tsavo East park, right next to the fencing.

My husband and I stayed at the Red Elephant Lodge for one night on our way from Mombasa to Nairobi in January 2015. Although our stay was pleasant enough, I probably wouldn't stay there again. The rooms were basic, the pool and surrounding area were basic, and the drinks were expensive (250/=KES for a 1L bottle of water, 200/=KES for... More

we stayed in the Red Elephant twice when passed through Voi on our way to, and returning from Tanzania. The Lodge is clean, tidy and very good value. We stayed in one of the cottages which are right in front of a waterhole, we had elephants both nights, into the early hours, also lions could be clearly heard grunting throughout... More

We could see girafs..elephants..dears..chitas..minibirds... Swans...zibras...lions..and all other wild animals...! The travelling between these wild animals was one of an adventure! The camp was protected well by electrical fence...rooms were so clean but wish if they only had t.v. sets....although they have wifi!! They have a clean resturant with delucious food dishes!!we could even see the wilds approaching around so near!!... More

On the plus side, Red Elephant has a great location just outside the gate of Tsavo East. From the terrace of our bungalow we got fabulous sightings of elephants visiting the water hole - really magical viewing. However, the lodge itself is too touristy for our taste; dinner, served round the camp fire, was of a reasonable quality although spoiled... More

My husband and I spent two nights here as part of our Kenyan honeymoon safari adventure. We absolutely loved this place! The location is perfect for visiting Tsavo West National Park and the manmade watering hole attracts a huge array of animals. The first evening when we sat down to enjoy a beer a whole family of elephants came to... More

We live in Kenya and wanted a rather affordable accommodation for 1 night. After searching for the best deal, we opted for this one as it looked very nice at a first glance. Immediately after dropping our luggages we understood the scam: very spacious but very cheap and poor quality. Very few guests, bad quality and little quantity of food,... More

I stayed here a very long time ago, actually in 2000 and again in 2012. The staff and management were perfect hosts and the outside bar-b-q with dancing around the roaring open fire is something I have never forgotten. It is situated just outside the actual game reserve and belive it or not my bed was totally made of bricks... More

Red Elephant Lodge sits next door to Voi Wildlife Lodge, but has far fewer guests and is often empty. Unlike some of the reviewers here, I found that a bonus rather than a turn-off. What is not to like about having a waterhole all to yourself and enjoying the passing elephants, buffalo and waterbuck with no loud distractions from busloads... More
