We have just returned from a chilling three day break at this pub. If you want a warm welcome, excellent service and good food , look no further !! This 400yr old pub stands on the original road from London to Holyhead so has many a story to tell. It is full of character with a homely lived in feeling,...

Four of us went for dinner on New Years Eve and ate from the al a carte menu in the restaurant . I'll cover the food first.....The starters were good in terms of taste (game terrine, mackerel pate and mustroom filo parcels though there were very few mushrooms actually in the parcels and there needed to be more toast for...

I took a party of fifty people from our bowling club to The Hand Hotel for our Presentation/Christmas Dinner. With the help of Ashley, the function manager, who was most obliging and arranged everything exactly as I requested the occasion was a huge success. The meal was hot and cooked to an excellent standard, efficiently served and enjoyed by all....

First time at The Hand. Visited with friends. Friendly staff on arrival. Very busy with a big party, but still managed to provide a good service. We ate gammon and chips, strips of steak in a wholegrain mustard sauce, rump steak and loin of lamb. There was plenty of it and it was piping hot, presented well and was truly...

although looking a little tired, the price is fair for this. The staff were friendly, the bar comfortable, the dogs welcome. The breakfast, although not bad, could be improved with a little more care. The tea & coffee weren't very hot, the bacon & marmalade ran out. Was a bit confusing as the table info said to order cooked breakfast,...

This was our second visit to Chirk and the Hand Hotel, although the first was five years ago. Our group of 40+ people had taken over the hotel for two nights to view the local area with rambles, town guides and visits to various attractions. We had breakfast and dinner on both days with afternoon tea in between. The facilities...

The only complaint is that we were in room 5 which has a large hot pipe along the length of the room, so although the window was always open day and night the room was still always hot, even in a mild October, but everything else including: the room size and storage, the (excellent) food, the friendly staff, the bar/beer,...

This is an old Coaching Inn and a listed building with lots of history, convenient for both the Chirk Castle and the Llangollen Canal. Walking distance to the aqueduct. The food was excellent and the staff friendly and helpful.

Went in with friends for an evening meal. Nice surroundings though the 'library wallpaper' now seems to be in almost every pub. Food very decent 'pub grub' and all four of us enjoyed everything we had but what really made the night was the charming and sassy waitress Olivia. A treasure and I hope the hotel realises it.
