I stayed 5 days in a single room with attached bathroom here in a quiet residential neighbourhood.
My wonderful host Andrew was a great source of helpful information including how to find local waterfalls and places to see and eat. One night he even made Cow Heel soup for us and it was delicious. He also helped with things like laundry, finding print shops, etc.
The room has plenty of closet space, great a/c, a very comfortable bed and the guesthouse is close to many restaurants and bars just a 15 minute walk from the airport but he can arrange transportation if you don't fancy the walk.
The only downside was that he cannot accept credit cards, but there are several ATMs very close by so that is a minor issue. I had no wifi so finding the place wasn't the easiest but get directions beforehand or just ask a friendly local.
I loved my stay here and highly recommend it. Thanks again Andrew.

There is an interesting feel to the guesthouse as there are many little knick knacks located at various locations throughout the spacious kitchen, living and dining rooms which the different guests shared.
The kitchen was fully stocked with cooking utensils which we made full use of during our stay.
We felt comfortable during our stay while the owner navigated amongst us performing various housekeeping tasks.
He also demonstrates a sound knowledge on current as well as historical information about the island and the various activities taking place.
He is warm, pleasant and has a light sense of humour. He is also fair and balanced when when addressing the various needs of the tenants.
He also allowed us to leave our bags at the hotel and use the toilet and shower facilities after checkout as we had to wait 10 hours for our flight.

My stay was pleasant and hassle free. Booked last minute and was accommodated easily.
Room had working AC, hot shower, comfortable bed and most importantly - FAST Wifi. Use of amenities in shared kitchen makes stay even easier as can store food and prep easily when needed.
Andrew (the host) was helpful and friendly.
Easy walk to 2 popular beaches - Pigeon Point and Store Bay and you can even walk from airport to Candles (10-15mins max). And centrally located near to many eateries open into night.
Thanks again for making for a pleasant stay!

Andre, the owner, has ensured that his property reflects his personality; its an easygoing place in a fantastic location. Mere minutes from the hub of activity of the restaurants and beaches (everything that you need is within one kilometer, yet the property is a place of serenity and relaxation on a quiet Bon Accord road. Andre engages in friendly chat, provides anything without fuss, and ensures that the ambience is one of relaxation. He ha certainly chosen the perfect name for a place that varies from single room accommodation to multiple bed lofts that can accommodate an entire team. It was an amazing stay for an extremely reasonable price. Little wonder that Candles in the Wind receives a lot of repeat business.

I lived in candle in the wind during the 85 days of global lockdown and city closures. Andrew(owner) is a very nice person. He borrowed wifi and local fixed line telephones to help me seek help from embassies of various countries. Wordless thanks! The hotel is family-run. Please cherish it. During the customs period, I also volunteered to help clean the hotel places and the things I used! It is a duty of passengers. Andrew is not afraid that I will bring the virus came in. my bed (no air-conditioning). It is naturally cool at night (Mar to Jun). The most important thing is that the kitchen . I need cook everyday in Lockdown. The equipment is sufficient. It had a lot of fruit (bananas, papaya, mango, lime).

Awfully hot and filthy place.
Owner does not want to do renovations to maintain ancient and poorly built property.
There are no cleaners employed
He refuses to get staff and cannot manage on his own
Uncleaned toilets, body hairs on soap, towels and bed sheets.
Bins not emptied until three to four days.
Extremely nosey person
Check the pictures.
There are cheaper places to stay around this location, but one has to walk around and enquire. I only found out as I was moving from the area.

Response from Andrew Leekit, Owner at Candles in the Wind
Responded Nov 5, 2023
This Guest, although having stayed a total of eight nights and booked through Booking.com, did not contribute to keeping her surroundings in an acceptable manner. It is not clear what her motive is as all Guests are invited to enjoy our House facilities on other floors and reserve the Attic for sleeping only. There were many Casual Conversations between us and no mention of her concerns were brought to my attention. I wish her all the best in her Years of travel and be more open minded when visiting the World.

Very comfortable accommodation in walking distance to beaches and restaurants. Owner was particularly helpful as I was an unexpected guest who booked one night and ended up staying 3 extra nights. So grateful for his friendly assistance. Will definitely return to this homely atmosphere.

Great accommodation for a solo traveller. Very easy to get to (from both the ferry and i imagine the airport) and right in the heart of crown point meaning one car explore the strip and great beaches on offer without being dependent on a car.

The host was great, providing some local insight for food, travel and was very easy to contact on whatsapp. Really appreciated the good and relaxed vibes on my stay here.

Would thoroughly reccomend.

Andrew is the perfect host, he helped me with all the information I need while planning my trip an also when I was already in the hostel, including to fix my bag that had a problem with the zipper.
He gives all the important tips and advices about tours, how to get to differents points in the island, restaurants, supermarkets, exchanging money, etc...
I met great people at the hostel thanks to him too.
The hostel has a great location, near the airport, restaurants, bars, and bus stop, just short walking distance from 3 beaches in Crown Point.

Beaches in Tobago are very quiet. Its not a Miami type of beach full of huge hotels and clubs. Around Candles of the wind you can find many restaursnts and bars. But compared to Trinidad nightlife is a bit more quiet. Store bay is 2-3 blocks from the hotel
