First if you don't like dogs this may not be the right place. They have 4 big, beautiful black great danes that are super friendly. The rooms were nice and a decent size. They have beautiful grounds and right out front they put out fruit for the birds and there are plenty to see. The breakfast was fantastic and the owners... More

We stayed 5 nights at Chalet Nicholas as a family. We had a spacious loft room, with a large balcony, and on a clear morning, a stunning view of the volcano in the distance. The hosts are generous and warm - they were friendly and full of interesting stories and very helpful in guiding us in our visit in the... More

This was a great B&B for the price. The breakfast was great and the owners and staff were super friendly. The location was awesome for zip lining and not too far from Fortuna. Would recommend to others and would stay again. Pura Vida!

Chalet Nicholas is among the nicest places we have stayed in our 7 trips to Costa Rica. The setting is beautiful, the hosts are genuinely wonderful people and the wildlife is right at their front porch. This has been noted by other reviewers but what is also notable is the climate. Nueva Arenal has the best climate we have found... More

Chalet Nicholas is on a hill with views of Lake Arenal and Volcano Arenal and access to hiking in a Primary Rainforest from the back yard. The birds are amazing in the morning, eating bananas right in front of the porch, and the flowers are beautiful all year round. A variety of comfortable rooms and a delicious breakfast every morning.... More

John feeds the birds bananas, at least a 100 different species. Great view of Lake Arenal. Catherine homemade macadamia nut pancakes, so good! We went on a hike behind the B&B in the rain Forrest, listened to the howler monkeys. Great B&B

This little bed and breakfast, run by the elderly couple John and Cathy and their two great danes was a very pleasant choice to spend our time in the Arenal area. The view over the lake from the rocking chairs on the porch is spectacular and it has a fine location to start daytrips from as long as you have... More

My husband and I stayed with Cathy and John for 2 nights in early March while on a discovery tour of Costa Rica. We had rented a car and spent 12 days exploring the country. Arenal was towards the end of our tour, so we were ready to spend some time out of car and instead soak up the spectacular... More

Chalet Nicholas is a wonderful alternative to the big resorts in the Arenal area. We thoroughly enjoyed meeting and chatting with the owers John and Cathy. It's location next to the national park gave us an opportunity take a short hike starting right at the back of the inn. We high recommend Chalet Nicholas!

Chalet Nicholas was founded and is operated with the guiding principle of treading lightly on our planet. Lovely grounds and owners who are very knowledgeable of the area and its hidden jewels. Strongly recommend this B&B. Food was also excellent.
