Our visit was postponed for 1-1/2 years due to Covid … with all that time expectations for our vacation kept rising - Simply Baku did not disappoint!!! It was all and more than we could have imagined. Our first visit to La Cruz albeit one of many to Mexico … we found our perfect home away from home. A short walk to town and the beach a few steps away - if we could pull ourselves away from our beautifully decorated hacienda and immaculately groomed gardens and inviting pool. Marianne and all the staff - including the four-legged variety - were welcoming, accommodating, and made sure we had everything we needed to enjoy our visit. We eagerly await our next visit! The views, the hospitality, the town, and the location of his gem of a hotel are NOT TO BE MISSED. Planning to return to this place again and again. The accommodations were very comfortable and charming. Huge beach is situated by a small public beach and a large government-protected beach on one side and a marina with a killer restaurant (easy walk from the Simply Baku) on the other side. The property is very private. My husband and I felt like superstars during our stay in late May. What ultimately sold us on booking this place was looking at location on Google satellite view. It gives you an idea of how large and price the spot is. We cancelled all the plans we made in PV proper on our second day. Can’t wait to go back!

This was our second stay at Simply Baku and it was every bit as great as the first! The accommodations and grounds are beautiful, perfectly set up for pandemic travel. Even if the property was at full capacity you still have lots of private spaces to relax. Marianne and her staff go above and beyond to make sure you have everything you need and more. From airport transportation, Covid testing, food delivery, everything was set up for us. We didn’t have to worry about anything. I seriously can’t say enough about the service. So, go ahead and book a stay here! And be sure to give the pups, Pancho and Sushi, a treat for me :)

We had the pleasure of staying here for two weeks at the end of January 2021. This property is absolutely magnificent! Marianne, Jean, Manuel and the rest of the staff are just fabulous! From the seamless airport pick up to the beers and guacamole awaiting you in your room, perfection! They are a boutique hotel so they offer a wonderful wine list and a chef available to prepare your meals right in your casita. If that isn’t your thing, that is fine too. They have mastered the perfect balance of catering to your every need and yet leaving you on your own to enjoy all that La Cruz has to offer. We will absolutely be back. If you are travelling in December or January, take your binos because we saw whales every single day we were loving Simply Baku!❤️🇲🇽🐋

We travel as much as we can, but we continually (for 9 years) come back to the peaceful tranquility of Simply Baku! We now come twice a year because the soft, warm breezes rustling the palm trees, the wonderful weather, the beautiful view of Banderas Bay, the gorgeous landscaping and the incredible casitas....it calls our name and we miss it the moment we get back home! Incredible restaurants, amazing Sunday market in town, the wonderful "family feel" of the town, and the energy Marianne puts into trying to make each visit as memorable as the last and keeps us coming back year after year!!

Simply Baku stole our hearts. It’s hard to explain how special this place is, but I’ll try. First, the location. If you’re interested in a place that is equal parts charming (but not cute), classy (without being pretentious) and authentic. This is the place for you. Second, the beach: unbeatable. Nestled between a beach club and a public beach. Third. The facilities. Thoughtfully / artfully appointed cabanas right on the beach. Lastly, and most importantly, the people. Marianne (the owner) and her staff (Manuel, Pilar and the whole crew) are attentive, thoughtful and don’t hesitate to go the extra mile for their guests. It’s not for everyone. No hustle. No forced fun. No open bar all you can drink/eat. Just beauty, charm and authenticity. Oh and you must like dogs. We just returned from a 10 day stay and it was better than we imaged. Marianne and her staff made the stay wonderful. From the covid precautions, to the grounds, the casita on the beach with oceans waves and birds singing while laying in the hammock. We had everything needed to make a easy meal or walk to village for food and live music. Marianne was also helpful in giving recommendations of place to eat and visit. We have been to La Cruz many times as previous home owners. I had walked by Simply Baku many times and staying there we so much better than seeing from the beach. The location is close to town but peaceful. The beach is also used by locals mostly on weekends adding to experience. We felt very safe with Covid precautions during our entire stay. From mask wearing to taking temperature before entering places. Getting our covid test before returning the US was quick and easy. Can’t wait to return next year! And so it was! We spent 13 days at this lovely resort. Marianne Jacobs, the owner, made us feel like Family. We chose the transportation option offered by Simply Baku (hereinafter “SB”) and glad we did. It is round trip and so worth the additional cost. We were met promptly right outside the door of the airport and delivered directly to our villa (not some stuffy or time-consuming reception office). Marianne came directly into our villa to greet us and went over everything about the villa and the resort. It was truly a refreshing experience to be treated so well. We stayed in the second story villa located across the little cobblestone road from the main resort. This is basically a private fenced and gated compound for just 2 villas, the bottom level and the top, which was our villa. There was no one staying in the bottom level villa during our entire stay. We felt like we had our own special private slice of paradise! This ‘compound’ has its own pool and the enclosed garden area is simply lush and beautiful. The trees, shrubbery and flowers lend to such a tropical feel. The birds singing, the butterflies floating and the fresh air were perfection. We actually spent more time at the pool than we did on the beach. The grounds and pools are kept immaculate by Marianne’s “guys” who do a fabulous job! Our villa had complete kitchen, with everything you would need to cook even a gourmet meal, a sitting area with chairs and table, the bedroom area with lots of closet space and a complete bathroom with a great walk-in shower. Loved all the décor, so traditional, and the artwork on the walls, gorgeous. The villa truly felt like a home, not a resort suite. The sliding glass doors and the balcony surround two sides of the villa, nice! The balcony has security windows that lock (which we appreciated), but which can be opened so as not to obstruct your direct view of the ocean. And what a great view it was! We spent many hours sipping wine and watching magnificent sunsets, as well as having morning coffee and simply ‘drinking in’ the beautiful view on this balcony. Priceless! We also took advantage of the “provisioning option” where you can send Marianne a list and she will stock your kitchen. This worked out so well for us in that we did not have to spend the next morning at the grocery store. And let me not forget the complimentary “welcome” treat of fresh made guacamole (yummy!), chips and mini Corona beers. Our housekeeper came every day except Sunday and did a marvelous job of cleaning our villa, even doing our dishes and refilling the water pitcher for the frig (so you always have cold purified water). Yes, your kitchen has a purified water dispenser that is refilled daily so you never run out of water. Marianne also supplies things like salt and pepper, sugar, foil, plastic wrap, Pam spray, insect repellent, flashlight and so much more. The bathroom is supplied with hand soap, a wonderful smelling liquid bath soap (what was that scent, Marianne?!), the most plush thick towels we have ever encountered on our travels and even personal items like cotton swabs, ear plugs and face cleanser wipes. Marianne, you thought of it all! The beach was pretty much deserted during our stay, which made for nice, quiet reading time on the cushy loungers! The water entry directly in front of SB is a little rocky, however, just go a few steps to the left and it is a nice, sandy entry. There is a Beach Club right next door, however, there were few people there and only on a couple of days. There was a wedding held there one night, a little noisy, but all was quiet by midnight. The Club might be busier during high season, which is why we always travel during low season. The only thing I feel obligated to report to fellow TAers is that (very noisy) construction started right next door during our second week. Fortunately, we took a couple of excursions during that time so we were away from the resort. Apparently, the Beach Club is going to build a resort there so construction may be a factor for a period of time. Marianne did offer to let us use one of the villas directly on the beach during the day (minimal noise on the beach) which was a very considerate gesture. There could also be music noise from a garage around the corner, however, there is nothing SB can do about that. I can’t forget to mention Pancho and Sushi, Marianne’s ‘furry children.’ They are both a delight and helped prevent us from missing our little ‘furry child’ back at home. All the Staff were very kind and helpful. Marianne also contacted drivers (she knew personally) for us whenever we needed a taxi to go somewhere. The drivers were prompt, professional and nice to chat with. We never felt unsafe during our stay. I could go on and on about what an amazing and special time we had at SB. If you are looking for a ‘party atmosphere’ do not come to SB (you’ll just ruin it for others). If you are looking for a tranquil vacation spot in a lush surrounding, then SB is for you.…
