The Waterford River Valley Campground provides an accessible family-friendly venue for an urban camping experience, all the while protecting a local natural legacy and Newfoundland and Labrador’s biodiversity over 15 acres of original growth forest.
We have been here for a month. This is a fairly new campground. The sites are clean and level. The Auto Level System in our MH has had no problems. The Comfort Station is new and clean. The water pressure is high and there is LOTS of hot water. If you're here for a week or more you get a free pumpout Mon. and Fri. at your site so there's no need to move your MH to dump your tanks. That's been great. There is excellent Wi fi and laundry facilities with new machines and an oversized bathroom and shower combo for handicapped guests. The staff are very friendly and genuine and very competent. The location is excellent. You are no more than 15 minutes away from the downtown core of St. John's and other points of interest. It's better to stay here and do day trips to Dildo, St. Vincent's Beach, Middle Cove etc. We left for 3 days to Winterton and regretted it as the campground there was awful. We've become spoiled by staying here. We came right back. There is a great nature trail to walk your dog and there are many groomed gravel trails leading to different streets and ponds etc. As a bonus, you are a 2 minute drive from a No Frills and less than 10 minutes away from Walmart, Canadian Tire, Dominion and several plazas with the usual amenities. We've been traveling on summer holidays for 9 years and I can say this is the best campground we've been in.…

I couldn’t believe we were in an urban area yet did not hear one siren! The path to the river leads to the T’rail so there are miles of groomed paths to walk or bike. Also it is so convenient for friends and family who would like to visit during the day or evening. The staff is fantastic! Definitely going back!

What an amazing RV campground! The minute we left Topsail Road and drove to our site it was just like being miles into the country. No sounds of traffic, or other noises.....except for the incredible flocks of seagulls which graced the skies several times during our stay. It was magical, especially at night! It was like a light show! The staff members are incredibly friendly and helpful. We will definitely be going back there again!
