What a lovely place! Great view! 89 Euro for one night in a beautiful room with music in the shower. Great! Buffet well organised, like done in coronatimes: you tell them what you like and they put it in your plate. Distance is taken care of. Oh, and the lovely bottle of wine: Carm 2017 Reserva. Highly recommended! Like the whole place. A hotel to go back to.
Our tour stayed here 1 night...lovely. After a Douro Valley wine tour, I accidentally left my bottle in my room. We contacted them from Porto and the lovely staff drove the bottle to Quinta de Pacheca winery to be shipped to the USA. I was so grateful...they did this for no charge. I offered to compensate, but they declined. We enjoyed drinks on the balcony overlooking the river during sunset. We caught the river tour boat (1hr ride, 10€) 1 block away. Was a lovely stop on road tour through Portugal. I am so appreciative for the staff’s assistance with my wine....GRATEFUL!!
We stayed at Hotel Regua Douro one night, following a Saturday on the Historic train () and anticipating a guided tour of the valley slated for Sunday. Dinner (yummy slow-cooked duck, local wine) and breakfast were both wonderful, and staff were friendly and helpful. The room was spacious, quiet, and comfortable.
This hotel is not cheap but it is comfortable and in a good location with a free car park and a good selection of eateries nearby, while the breakfast room has wonderful views of the river. If you find the scrambled eggs have run out then just ask for more, and be careful that you are not asked to pay more that you should at checkout.
The small cafe to the side of the hotel with seats outside of it has the most unfriendly of staff I have ever encountered, purposely refusing the most obvious of requests, only really wanting to serve to locals, don’t go!
