This place is so great you almost don't want to write a review about it to keep it a secret. But we aren't selfish, are we? Plus Enrico & Angela, the owners, make your stay so wonderful, the world deserves to know.
I came to the region of Saturnia for a business trip and had to test different hotels that aren't too far from the hot springs.
Locanda la Pieve is located in the sleepy & charming village of Semproniano, right next to the beautiful church of the village.
It's a 15 minute drive to the Saturnia hot springs.

But what makes this place so special is neither the location, nor the rooms. The rooms are extremely clean, and are decorated in a cute and countryside style, each with a different theme. So for those who enjoy modern looking rooms with epurated design, it's not the spot.

But the true highlight of this hotel is the food. It's hands down the best food I ever had in a hotel.

Enrico and Angela, the owners, formerly had a 5 star hotel in Rome but decided they want a more simple life away from the hustle and bustle of the city, and offer a more personal experience to their customers.

They propose a dinner menu reserved for their own customers. And let me tell you... it's an absolute delight.

They use only local and seasonal products. Everything in their meals is sourced from local farmers, neighbor's gardens etc. Not to speak about the local wines that would deserve a whole review on their own.

They serve a fixed menu that changes with the products that are available.

I'm a vegetarian and they were so kind to taylor the menu to my dietary requirements.

The breakfast was just as delicious. Make sure yo try the croissants. They're like fluffy little clouds.
Enrico & Angela make their own jams from local fruits & herbs. So good you want to take them home.

They also sell local products.
I bought some olive oil that was very good.

Enrico and Angela have a very extensive knowledge of the region, and are very happy to give you recommendations for places to visit & things to do.

And last but not least... in a region where it's very rare to find people who speak English, it was very nice to be able to have a nice conversation.

Best hotel experience in a long time.

I arrived here by a roundabout route including another BnB, a ladies hairdressing salon and a local bar. I also arrived quite late in the day.

The welcome was, nonetheless, warm and genuine. In no time at all, I had a room, my bike was safely parked in the garage, and I was having a hot shower to ease the aches of the day.

Unfortunately, due to the lateness of my arrival, no dinner was available, but I ate well in the restaurant next door - try the boar tagliatelle. As many others have said, breakfast was wonderful; a very welcome change from the dry toast and coffee I had had in recent days.
100% recommendation.

We hadn’t been able to visit our favourite restaurant in the area for nearly a year due to ill health and then lockdown. So we made up for it by visiting the restaurant twice during our stay at our holiday home. First visit Enrico surprised us by cooking fish as a main course. Needless to say it was beautiful. As were, of course, the antipasto and pasta courses. Angela does the desserts and she didn’t disappoint with a wonderful semifreddo. Second visit, a week later was just as good. As it was a warm evening we ate outside on their lovely terrace, which they have worked hard on. Food was up to usual high standards, as usual using local ingredients. Wine choice on both occasions was guided by Angela. Wines were excellent. Thanks you two. See you later in the year.🤞

We only had one night and wished we had planned for more. Angela and Enrico were wonderful hosts. Enrico's passion is cooking and we were treated to his culinary delights for our one dinner, and Angela explained all the local products used and how each dish was prepared. The accommodation was very comfortable and quant. The village is typically Italian and very quiet as we walked around on a Saturday night. Everyone we met was so friendly. We hope we can return someday.

A hidden gem in the heart of Tuscany, near the Saturnia thermal hot springs.
My best man recommended the place, and we booked full of expectations.
The first time, but not the least, at La Locanda and we were not disappointed!
Angela’s warm welcome and courtesy immediately made us feel at home; our room was clean, quiet, and comfortable.

My husband and I had a blast at dinner in the romantic garden “al fresco.” The service was beyond excellent, and the food was terrific and seasoned to perfection by Enrico, a phenomenal chef. A presto!

The owners of this wonderful little hotel have put their hearts into it. It is sparkling clean, very well run and has wonderful evening meals. It is near the famous spa town of Saturnia, and all of the wild Maremma region in South Tuscany. Also, it is surprisingly near the coast with some really good long sandy beaches. We were very happy here. Remembering it now, it seems like a film or a dream. We cannot wait to go back. Grazie!

Inn in a charming village run by 2 wonderful hoteliers. The food is superlative. Everything here is tops. It really is a little gem and in a special part of Tuscany, near the Saturnia spa town, but miles removed in ambience. Surprisingly near the sea.

I cannot think of any negatives. The Room was great and the food was stunning. Very good value for the money too. It is a few minutes from the Saturnia Spa. We would like to go back to explore the other villages we glimpsed. This is a rugged area and beautiful.

We couldn’t go to southern Tuscany without visiting La Locanda. Enrico and Angela treat us like long lost friends. The rooms are both cosy and chic. Enrico is a wonderful chef specialising in local meals. Ingredients are locally sourced too. Angela runs a great restaurant and makes desserts to die for. Thanks.
