Martyn Deathridge, Hellen Newey October 15 Highly recommend this hotel, beautiful location an gardens, we had Winston Churchills room 222 overlooking the main steps, private beach, fantastic food, room slightly tired but spotless. And the staff were awesome! Made the holiday, highly considering getting married there next year. Great hotels history

We stayed for two nights at the hotel. The location and gardens are absolutely stunning, so well worth the effort to get there (steep winding road). The hotel however is tired - threadbare corridor carpets and a very old fashioned, small bathroom with a shower that kept falling off the hook. The staff however were very friendly and helpful and... Our most positive memory of this hotel will be breakfast on the terrace overlooking the mountains, the sea and the beautiful gardens and the very attentive and helpful hotel staff who never hurried you. It is as far away from the budget hotels of the south coast as you can possibly imagine and still has that air of 1930s luxury.... More

This is a really lovely hotel with super gardens in a special location. We had booked one the hotel's villas - major disappointment but see separate review - and were so pleased to be moved into a huge suite in the hotel instead. The staff were friendly and helpful, the breakfast buffet is outstanding and the balcony restaurant - with... More

Wonderful and restful week. Swimming pool fabulous, gardens interesting and beautiful. Staff friendly and very helpful especially with my computer problems Vanesa help me many times to fix it. Have also had a few interesting site seeing trips and have especially enjoyed the ferry trips. All the family, ranging from 6 months to 77 years have had a good holiday.

A unique Hotel within 40 acres. On the waterside. Built in 1929 by a wealthy Argentine. True belle époque slightly modernised. The location, grounds, views, air and peace is priceless. Great for setting base. Really chilling out, wonderful snorkelling, water activities, good food, and drinks. Located at the end of a road, so no noisy traffic and the beach is... More

Enjoyed some September sun at the excellent Barcelo Formentor. Built in 1929 the hotel is not much changed and rooms a little small but location on a world heritage coastline is fantastic and the hotel food and device mostly without fault. Decent sandy beach a short walk but good for swimming. Would definitely return

From the exquisite views on the drive to this lovely hotel, to the sheer tranquility and beauty upon arrival, it is one of the most peaceful, picturesque and absolutely outstanding hotels we have had the pleasure to visit. Yes, things need updating, but this is truly a place where you can unwind, off load and relax until you are virtually... More

After 16 years the magic is still there....lunch on the beach still as special....clientele has lost a bit of the high brow, old school European feel (having lost private ownership some years ago and been sold out to a large mid-range hotel chain) The sea, the thatched umbrella tables and remembering the beach manager, Tony, after all these years brought... Faultless service, without exception very friendly and helpful staff. Room layout a little disappointing despite fabulously comfortable bed and efficient a/c. Double basins were in the room itself, bath/shower and loo/bidet separated only by a semi-translucent glass door. Stunning location, you could not tire of the view from the public areas and the gardens were a feast of colour, beautifully... More
