The Illa d’Or, founded in 1929, is a hotel which still maintains the authentic classical style from yonder. Situated in placid Puerto Pollença, where one can experience the sensation of beauty which has served as inspiration to a multitude of yesterday’s and todays’s artists and writers. At the Illa D’Or, the sky and the sea are a gentle carress, dusk is a symphony of colours and night, whilst on the terrace and contemplating the moon reflection in the sea, one realises that it is one of the most beautiful areas, not only in Mallorca, but possibly, in the world.

Perfect location, right on sea side; immaculate service in restaurant and outdoor areas; non-stop attention; two small pools and sea swimming also. rocks and seaweed rather hampered sea swimming. Pleasant walk into town on flat ground. Food excellent, recommend half board;

Enjoyed a week in May we had a room overlooking the sea with a balcony which i would advise. The food was ok if a little hurried. The noise from the roof repairs to the bar on the jetty was annoying but i am sure will be finished by mid June.The hotel is situated at the end of

I stayed at the Illa D'or Apartments June/ July 2010, they were re-furbished last year and are absolutely beautiful. The pool is amazing and there is also an tennis court you can book. They were cleaned every day and the bed linen every 3 days. They also included extras

Nice but overpriced hotel. Lovely outside grounds, beach bar, breakfast setting, but mediocre pool (never used it) and sub-standard rooms for price paid. A good location from which to rent a boat, explore the north and west coasts, etc. Hotel nothing special- you'll want to

We chose this hotel because of location for my elderly Dad so he could just sit and laze away in front of the sea without the need to move very far. In fact one of the roooms booked had a massive sea view balcony which was for Dad's use if needed but he was more than content to

I recommend that you contact the hotel, but it is fairly easy to work out the number of rooms with balconies and which have sea views by examining the image of the hotel on their website or on tour operators’ web sites.

The Illa d’Or is a really lovely hotel at the end of the Puerto Pollensa promenade and we had a delightful holiday there. However I am not sure it would be suitable for a younger couple and a 9 year old son. It is very much frequented by elderly couples and in September no evidence off any activities. Being a hotel converted from a large manor house, the rooms are very mixed in size, so it might be difficult to organise a family room. I think it may be advisable for you to look elsewhere in the resort. I’m sure there are other 5* hotels which offer activities for your son. Sorry to advise you in this negative way but I should hate you to be staying in a hotel where your son might not be with children of his own age.

Hi Gerry, the rooms at the front with a balcony are all double. The balcony is large but the room was a big disappointment, the smallest double a hotel could have. The apartments are across the road. We didn’t see them but they seemed popular with their own pool. The hotel overall is very good and worth a visit. We had room 105 on our last visit and it was excellent.
