We stayed at the red lion at the end of July 2016 for one night on a Saturday, attending a local wedding. Beware when parking round the back the trees drop sap that coats your car and leaves it feeling like sandpaper! We found the hotel to be fantastic value for money, paying £39 for one night. The room was...

I stayed here for two nights due to a work course in nearby Nuneaton. Checked in, all ok, went to the room.... Vile. Filthy room, dirt on walls, smelled of damp, filthy crumbs in desktop grooves and a shabby old window that hadn't been cleaned in ages. The shower room was smelly and very dated. I cannot even explain how...

Had fish and chips here the other night. All freshly battered and fried, which makes a change from some pubs who buy the fish ready battered and just bake in the oven. Very tasty. Chips nice and crisp, not those awful cardboard oven things. Fish a decent size.

A group of five of us visited the Red Lion for lunch on Saturday 16th July 2016. We arrived at noon and placed our orders for two afternoon teas (each are for 2 persons and one of us wasn't eating). After 40 minutes, we enquired about our food, since none had arrived - not even the drinks. We were told...

Decided to try the carvery, on arrival late afternoon early evening we were greeted with dirty laundry left on the floor, we went through to the bar and ordered our meals. The meat and vegetables look like they had been left out all day. Cabbage was turning brown and very dry meat, Yorkshire pudding was rock hard. The restaurant was...

Atherstone is just not the place to be, and the Red Lion confirms that. Everything you order is fat and there is just one thing missing....taste, rooms are small and old and airconditioning is not available. And breakfast? Just not my cup of tea, again loads of fat, no fresh fruit, nothing healthy at all in fact and English breakfast?...

We had booked rooms for a party of us to celebrate a birthday nearby. We were told on booking in that we were in the annex, didn't know this existed as we have stayed before and although the rooms are small in the main hotel, they are fine. The receptionist showed us to the annex down the road, which we...

There were a total of 5 of us who stayed on 29th June. There were a list of things that went wrong with this visit. The rooms were not clean, the waitress was rude, breakfast was non existent or burnt...and they lost our booking.. But let's try to keep it slightly positive. Dinner was nice..although I was sent a menu...

Having spent an enjoyable day at a classic car rally.we travelled to the hotel where we were staying the night. Our rooms were in the annex clean but basic.and overpriced for what they were We had looked at the dinner menu on line and decided to eat at the hotel rather than eat elsewhere. The menu that was given to...
