Stayed in room 5 with my cockerpoo Hector. Many accommodations advertise themselves as “dog friendly” when what they really mean is “dog tolerant”. The proprietors of Chapel house: Richard and Siobhan understand the challenges of travelling with your pooch and go out of their way to ensure that both human and dog have a relaxed comfortable stay. From a human perspective: we’ll located in a quiet cul-de-sac with parking. Rooms clean, comfortable with all usual extras including drink making facilities, trouser press, tv, free wifi, complementary water etc Lots of nice little things showing attention to detail. Food was really good: aka carte menu had lots of choice and was fab. Breakfast was served when you wanted it and as per your order: you film in a chit Ty saying what you want or don’t want. Once again, a wide choice. From the dog perspective: made very welcome. Made a fuss of from start to finish. Bedroom had a doggy welcome pack including snacks, chews, and a ball. Dog bed provided with water bowl. One of my favourite things was that the owners just know that no matter how well (or badly) trained your dog is, they are going to hop into the bed. In anticipation they put a separate sheet on the bed which they don’t mind the dog jumping on. For dining, there is a separate room for those with dogs so you do not need to worry about other guests. When we stayed there was another couple with dogs and we shared the dining room which was lovely. There are nice quiet gardens which dogs can explore. For breakfast, Hector had his own sausage. Apologies for the long review but there were so many positives about this place that I felt it was important to share them. The owners are really friendly but maintain a relaxed atmosphere which was much appreciated. Highly recommended.…
We needed accommodation and we chose this beauty. The outside is unassuming as I suppose most older buildings. The room was very clean and tidy also the decor was great, some quirky stuff like a small bust in the bathroom and an unusual desk. The artwork hanging on the walls is keeping with the general feel of the place. The restaurant looked as good as the food was with silver everywhere. The gardens were also a treat. Very impressed thanks Richard and Siobhan.
CH was a lovely venue for our wedding, especially the garden which includes a small 'woodland' area which was pretty with bluebells. Roast chicken dinner was tasty. The manager went out of her way to make it a special day for us. It works well for a small wedding lunch because you can have complete privacy and you have the flexibility and space of break out rooms and a garden. Thank you.
My sister and I spent a great night's stay at this lovely hotel. The twin room was large, quiet, clean and had a lovely view of the church. The hosts were welcoming and friendly and we loved their dog! We ate dinner there which was excellent and the room price included a full English breakfast which was also very tasty. The hotel is within easy walking distance of the town, shops and canals, would highly recommend.
We cannot recommend Chapel House highly enough. Very welcoming & lovely hosts. Our room was spotless and we had the best nights sleep. We loved the attention to detail, including environmentally friendly products in the bathroom. Breakfast is in the lovey dining room over looking the beautiful gardens. We fell in love with the homemade marmalade 🧡 Thank you. Situated only a few minutes away from our friends wedding at Mythe Barn made it the perfect weekend away. Everything was 5 stars. Thank you very much. We would love to come back in the summer to see the beautiful garden in bloom.
The food was excellent - perfectly cooked, excellent local produce and all elements perfectly matched. An extensive wine list that is good value. We were there on the first night of opening post lockdown #3, and not a wrinkle to be found. Highly recommend it. We stayed two nights. The situation makes it really quiet. Rooms are comfortable and clean. There with family (sibling), our third visit. Am sure we will be back
Booked for 9 people for a colleagues birthday lunch. It was lovely, both savoury and sweet. I am very interested in the al a carte menu. Pleasant and discreet service, a little gem. Only downside was the weather and as it was difficult to park, we were all a little wet on arrival,
I love being here when I’m in the area because I don’t feel like it’s a work trip & can relax & be a bit spoilt. Always a good dinner made to order and then a lovely breakfast to look forward to, cheeky G&T looking out at the garden with relaxing pond & ducks. I just feel the stress seeping away from me - heaven! Just don’t want everyone to know about it, selfish but true!!
Stayed here for 2 nights with my mate as we were going to Champneys for a spa day and I have to say I’m really glad we did. Not only did this save us money we felt relaxed and very much at home. The couple who run the hotel are so friendly and welcoming and were very attentive. We ate there for dinner on both nights and the food was fabulous, the quality was so high and they have a great selection of wines too, the prosecco we drank was the best I’ve ever tasted. The breakfast was delicious too. The only critique I have and I’m being picky here as I’ll definitely be going again for the food and hospitality is that the hotel could do with a bit of a refresh
I stayed here for business the rooms are clean and bed comfy. The breakfast is very good and the owners look after your needs. Other people at breakfast was raving about the evening meals so definitely will make time in the future to give the evening meals a try.
