My wife and I recently stayed overnight at the Devonshire Arms. The staff were very friendly and not pretentious at other hotels in the area. We have had rooms which have been bigger and more sumptuous, though this room was more than adequate, clean and comfortable. We had originally planned to take our dog with us and changed our minds...

We attended a family wedding a couple of weeks ago. Truly beautiful setting. The wedding was at Bolton Abbey, what can I say apart from WOW! What a truly beautiful church to be married in. The meal was lovely. The service was spot on. Would love to go back and stay the night and see what it's really like.

Everyone should visit this place. Beautiful surroundings, welcoming staff. Nice to just sit with a book in the dog lounge with a latte and the best shortbread I have had for ages. We had a meal in the Burlington and cannot rave about it enough. You can taste each ingredient. Before sitting down to the tasting menu, they ask if...

My husband and I shared a gorgeous 24hours at the Devonshire where the staff couldn't do enough for you. We stopped in the old part of the hotel in a room with delightful views towards the river. The rooms aren't big, nor are they the most sumptuous we have stopped in but that's not what this hotel is about, in...

Bed on the small size and mattress not entirely comfortable. (As standard single is 3ft wide -why offer 2 adults less? Think about it hoteliers and get rid of the 5ft bed -and don't even think about 4 ft 6!!) However we booked very late so were glad to have whatever bed was available and were placed as far from...

We booked a four day stay over, Requested room with 6ft bed and was allocated a room called Fisherman.. After 2 hour drive we were shown a very small room with a 5ft bed, and not the room I had booked. An even smaller room was offered instead but still a 5 ft bed and the room was not clean....

We were given a one night stay at this hotel as a gift it was a lovely surprise. We were greeted by a porter who carried our bags to our room. Then given a tour of the hotel by the receptionist so we could get our bearings. The room was lovely, clean and the bed was oh so comfortable. We...

My fiancé and I were invited to a wedding reception here. The car park was full so we parked at the spa over the road hoping this would be ok - it was. The venue is spectacular. The taste and maintenance of the décor is stunning. I loved the outside bar with seating and tables underneath heated umbrellas. The reception...

The arrival was lovely. We were greeted at the car by a porter who took our bags up whilst we checked in. The check-in staff gave us a tour so that we were familiar with the facilities. The room was great (in the Cartoon room in old part). Bathroom was not as good as I have had in other hotels,...

Super welcome from the head concierge, room despite upgrade was on the small side, very clean and nicely furnished. Nice location and had a lovely walk. Dinner on the brasserie was a tad expensive for what it was. Breakfast nice. Spa is very little and not quite the relaxing experience I'd hoped but met with a lovely warm welcome. I...
