We are fortunate to have a villa on this lovely golf resort therefore have been visiting the hotel for many years. Sadly we have noticed a deterioration in almost every area. We went for breakfast the other week which was disgusting. Carton orange juice, cold coffee, soggy toast, cheap hard baked beans, choice of 2 old fruits, no butter....need I go on?! Many of the umbrellas round the pool are ripped and torn and the water fountain has no water! The club house has has worn carpets and very slow staff apart from Alvaro who is always friendly and helpful. We had friends coming to stay in the hotel and I went to reception to ask if they could check in at midday especially as the hotel was no where near full and was very rudely shooed away and told it was not possible. They could have at least smiled and tried but it’s obvious they just don’t care. It was the same attitude when I asked about the restaurants, or lack of them should I say! Luckily there is a very well equipped Spar on site and a good selection of eateries within walking distance just outside the resort on The Boulevard. There is no hotel bar and the pool bar is closed which I don’t understand as people and children are running around in and out of the pool and jacuzzi all the time?? We also noticed that quite a few guests from The Residences were using the pool which I thought was forbidden but nobody asked them to leave. I can’t comment on the rooms but our friends said they were nice. We have friends coming later this week so will ask to have a look at theirs and take notes! The golf course is in dire need of some TLC with many ares totally overrun with weeds and unpruned trees. This used to be a lovely 5* when under the management of Intercontinental and we would confidently recommend it to everyone but now feel less inclined to do so and it’s no more than a 4 and soon to be a 3 if things and Caleia don’t get their act together. I did email the hotel manager and Caleia head office on many occasions with my concerns but never got a reply so feel only right to air my views on here! …
Staff all very helpful and due to current situation not all restaurants were open but what were we enjoyed the food . Very relaxing by the pool and staff good at ensuring that everything was cleaned . Not a lot of people there due to the current situation but this made our break even nicer as quiet. Rooms amazing with fab views
The place where the hotel is situated is very nice. The hotel itself looks nice also. The big swimming pool is great. Big private parking under the hotel. We stay in the covid period. The room many things where not working. Iron was not working , no coffee maker. The power outlet near the bed to charge a phone was not working. The breakfast is 2 stars, really poor and nothing to choose. 2 times they bring me cold coffee. They can't make this even when there are no much clients because of the Covid.
We wanted to see if Caleia (after being bought from Intercontinental was better and we wetre surprised by how much better it was . The staff were excellent with the new General Manager discretely asking everyone how they were and if they were a having a great time ..... we were.... Hopefully we will come back in July subject to C19.
The food in the onsite restraunts is a disgrace im sure everything except the steaks which are of a high quality ( but badly cooked) is bought frozen and just warmed up, for a 5 star hotel it is unexcusible to sell this junk at 5 star prices , go to the strip on the left of the enterance to the resort where you will find far better for less the half the price
