Stayed for a wedding at the hotel. Everything was perfect from the cleanliness of rooms and hotel in general, comfortable beds and extremly polite helpful staff going above and beyond to make sure everyone felt welcome and comfortable. Stunning views over the peak district Food was excellent

Mum, Dad, and I finally visited the Manyard for lunch on 18th November 2016! It was a freezing cold day, so we were grateful to note that it was nice and warm inside. There are disabled car parking spaces, and I managed to get in by pulling the door which opened into the bar! The Bar sells all drinks including...

We stayed here overnight on Saturday after spending the evening celebrating a friend's birthday in the function room. As we arrived rather late the receptionist was very helpful, organised coffee and then helped us carry our luggage to the room.Very large, well decorated with a large comfortable bed,a beautiful view down the valley. We settled in before changing for the party...

I stayed here on Monday evening for one night In a superior room which overlooked the garden. My dog bella was with me and we were both welcomed very nicely by the staff and she was given water and was allowed to sit with myself and my friend in the pleasant bar area. Also l was offered a key to...

We visited this lovely looking restaurant after a long walk, hoping to get a Sunday lunch. We arrived before 3pm and were handed the menus and told to wait on the sofas until a table was ready. So we waited...and waited...and then seated ourselves. We ordered our sunday lunches, to be told that we may be too late for this...

Lovely hotel in every aspect Right from the friendly welcome, the beautiful room and very good food we were really well looked after. The location here is beautiful and easily accessible. Good parking facilities, lovely lunch at good prices. The bathroom in the room was excellent. Lots of good touches in the room like water, biscuits, hot chocolate and filter...

Booked an overnight stay in a standard room for our 25th wedding anniversary break. The hotel is easy to find and there is plenty of invite free parking. We were delighted to learn that the hotel had upgraded our room to a small suite (room6) which was very nice and had great views. Unfortunately, the room was next to the...

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this beautiful hotel, gorgeous outlook. The staff are very friendly and efficient, devious dinner last night and breakfast this morning. Would definitely recommend the Maynard. Did not take a walk into Grindleford itself (maybe next time). This is the place to recharge the batteries.

We booked on the basis of some very positive reviews but I must say I was very pleasantly surprised at just how good this hotel is. The staff are a delight: friendly and efficient; the food is very good and the outlook is delightful. Our room (14) was a large suite with a pleasant view and, although overlooking the main...

Booked on the phone without a problem. Warm welcome. Room as expected, very clean and tidy - checked for problems in the usual places. Bed was very comfortable.but one thing the room could do with is a comfortable chair; having to sit on the bed to watch the TV is not great. Staff very friendly and accommodating. Offered free drink...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Peak District hotel and restaurant, The Maynard, was refurbished in March 2008 to become one of the best independent hotels in the Peak District. The building dates back over 100 years and during the refurbishment we have tried to respect this heritage whilst at the same time bringing the accommodation up to 21st century contemporary standards. The Peak District views from the garden, restaurant and bedrooms are stunning, and may leave you wondering if you’re miles from civilisation. Fortunately, as well as benefiting from a beautiful and tranquil location, The Maynard is very well located for visitor's from the outside world; The Maynard is less than 15 minutes from Sheffield by train (you can hop off at Grindleford station a couple of hundred yards from our door), and within easy reach of the M1, A57 Snake Pass and A61 by car. ... more   less
