The San Simian is a wonderful place to relax. There is wifi but no TV's or AC. Cabanas are fine - enough room and great outdoor bathroom and shower! This is one of the best lakes anywhere! The water in the lake is always warm because of the underground fumaroles and it's clean - if there are waves it is...

San Simian is one of the nicest places I have ever been too. The cabana we stayed in ( the green cabana) had an amazing view of the lake. Sitting outdoors reading was bliss. The enclosed attached outdoor shower was great. The bed was extremely comfortable. In the mornings they delivered upon request coffee to our cabana. The food and...

My husband and I stayed at San Simian for nine days in January, and we had a fantastic time. The grounds are beautiful, and kayaking in the lake whenever you feel like it is a real treat. It's also very convenient to the spectacular Masaya volcano. We both work remotely, and we always had plenty of peace and quiet. The...

We have visited Nicaragua 4.5 weeks, and stayed in this Lodge our last day and night, had to leave next morning 5 o'clock. If we had known this would be such an amazing place, we stayed longer, with regrets in our hart we had to leave. Everything was stunning, the water in the lake was warm, 27/28 degrees, free towels,...

Wonderful place to come and relax. Bungalows are very nice and clean. While Mango is the largest and has a private patio, the others are also very fine. The "outside" bathrooms are very cool--shower under the stars (behind a wall!!). The resort is very well maintained and the staff is extremely friendly, helpful and efficient. Daniel, the owner, is friendly,...

We arrived late at night after a canceled flight, thankful beyond measure that we had arranged for an airport pickup. We had some anxiety as the road became narrow and very rough, quickly dispelled by our warm welcome. The bungalows are rustic but charming, especially the open-air bathrooms. Perhaps because it was the dry season we saw no bugs or...

I stayed for 3 nights at San Simian (in Pina cabin) in Jan 2016. What a truly magical experience it has been. Daniel & his team have been truly wonderful – nothing is too much trouble. Everything is spotlessly clean & well maintained. Location is ‘to die for’. The 5 cabins are stepped into the hillside down to the lake...

We spent 3 very relaxing days at San Simian. The Mango room is very nice, with comfortable beds, a private sitting area, and the most marvelous outdoor bathroom. Daniel, Benny, and their crew went out of their way to make our stay memorable. Highly recommended!

Came here with friends for the da from Granada. Beautiful spot on the lake, very pleasant staff, good food, and cold beverages. Very happy to have come here and checked it out. Would like to stay here for a couple nights and get a true Laguna Apoyo experience.

Returned a couple weeks ago from a visit to San Simian. I have visited at various times during the year, but never in January. Arrived on New Year's Day from Miami around noon after Bayardo had arranged my pick-up at the airport by David. Being the holiday weekend, things were pretty busy along the Laguna to San Simian, at the...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
San Simian is a charming Eco Lodge in the Laguna de Apoyo Dry Forest Preserve. Nestled along the water's edge, this secluded resort has private unique lodging tucked into the slope of the crater and steps from the swimming dock, hammocks and bar where guests pass the time. Guests can stay in a unique palm-roofed cottage with open air shower, private garden or terrace, eat at our full service restaurant and relax at our outdoor bar. As San Simian is equipped with a Catamaran, several Kayaks, and other water toys, activity revolves at the lake front and in the clear warm water itself, however, bird and monkey watching in the surrounding forest are also popular, and we are also located at the entrance to a great hike path that leads up the hill to the Pueblas Blancas artisan villages and the stunning Mirador at Catarina. Please Call Ahead if you would like us to arrange a massage, pedicure, Spanish lesson, guided hike, Granada or Masaya tour. ... more   less
