We arrived in the evening after a full day of sighting seeing. Check in was quick and efficient. We had a lovely lodge a short walk from the main building. It was comfortable, the heater had been turned on and the hot tub ready to use had we wanted to use it. As we had had a large lunch we...

Witnessing wild Quetzal birds is one of the most magnificent experiences. It is a mystical, mesmerizing creature and we are thrilled to have them nesting in our forest. Please do post images if possible! Warmest regards!

Hidden up in the mountains in central Costa Rica, and surrounded by rain forest, this hotel takes you away from mobile phone signals and wi-fi connectivity, although you can connect to the internet around the lobby / lounge area. While the amenities are relatively basic, there is a spa on the premises, and our villa had a jacuzzi. Oh, and...

We stayed for three nights recently, and had a lovely time. Our accomodation was very comfortable, with a fantastic view of the mountains and stream from our private deck. The room had its own hot-tub which we enjoyed too. We took advantage of some of the activities on offer - horseback riding, walking etc, but we also spent some time...

El Silencio offers a great combination of cloud forest, waterfalls, hiking, birding and adventure with superb lodging. The views from the rooms are excellent and the property is criss-crossed with streams and a diverse range of trees. Would return in a heartbeat.

After spending a week along the beaches of the Pacific coast, in very hot and humid conditions, we were delighted to come into the mountains and feel comfortable temperatures, gentle breezes, and relax in a beautiful, peaceful retreat! I can't say enough about the wonderful guides that led us on our expeditions here to the various waterfalls on or near...

My wife and I traveled to El Silencio for three nights to unwind and get back to nature. But wow, we found so much more at El Silencio Lodge and Spa! Granted, it is off the beaten path, but not terribly difficult to find. We rented a car, and drove from San Jose Airport. We had a delayed flight and...

The Lodge is stunning. 5 star rating, the staff are incredible.Dress warm and bring a raincoat. Chill in your outdoor private Jacuzzi. Love all the guides. I would go back in a minute. The water falls are exceptional. The hiking is very challenging in some areas.

My wife and I stayed here for our anniversary for 6 days in cottage #17 and it was simply ethereal. Everything from the food down to the staff was simply amazing. Every morning you wake up to a beautiful view of mountains surrounded by the lush greenery of your resort. We scheduled a event daily (i.e. coffee tour, chocolate tour,...

It depends on what you are looking for and we were disappointed. We expected the weather to be chilly and misty which it was. Very. It was also unfortunate that they experienced a power cut all morning. But the very smart lodges are missing areas to dry wet clothes - there is only one radiator in the room. The restaurant...

Thanks for visiting us and letting us showcase this hidden region of Costa Rica. It was a pleasure to be your hosts and we would love to see you again in the near future. Yes! The drive through Zarcero is our recommended route. Road conditions are very good and the drive is very scenic. :)
