We flew into San Jose. We rented a car and drove to El Silencio using GPS on my phone. Very beneficial while driving because there are no signs and would of missed many turns without GPS. Location is mystical. We hiked to the waterfalls, had massages, went to the stables and more. The people who work here are very pleasant....

Really looked forward to staying at this Relais & Chateaux property. It did not disappoint. Our room was lovely. The property was beautiful. The breakfast buffet was excellent. My only disappointment was the hot tub was not hot enough [others in our group said theirs was too hot]!

Serenity and a special connection to nature is key to the El Silencio Lodge & Spa's cloudl forest experience. It was a pleasure to be your hosts! For optimal hot tub temperature we strongly recommend talking to our Eco-Concierges. They will make sure they are at the perfect temperature! Warm regards!

El Silencio is beautiful and awesome and truly one of a kind. It takes your breath away... the rooms, on site hikes, food, spa and extraordinary staff. We had not idea what to expect and were blown away. This is a piece of heaven.

We stayed three nights starting on New Year's Eve. We highly recommend the place if you are seeking for a quiet hideaway. Room: fantastic, spacious, clean and comfortable. The jacuzzi is great. However, as there is not heating in the bathroom my girlfriend and myself felt cold in there. Spa: my girlfriend described her massage as wonderful and extraordinary. Kudos...

This past August, I stayed here with my family (parents + brother); we'd previously spent the earlier portion of our trip in the southern part of Costa Rica (Puntarenas). We weren't sure what to expect of El Silencio - as it's difficult to access (due to being located in the depths of a Costa Rican cloud forest via steep mountainous...

Anything you need the staff is already thought of it before you asked. It's a great place anyone that wants to get away to luxury and happiness should go to El...

My husband and I stayed at El Silencio Dec 2016 and loved every minute of it. We loved our villa with the hot tub and rocking chairs on the porch with incredible views. It was chilly at night and during the nightly turn down service they place hot water bottles in the beds to keep them nice and toasty. We...

We had a lovely stay and enjoyed a beautiful drive there through Zarcero. You don't need to leave your room if you don't want to - the hot tub on the balcony is enough to stay put! There are hiking trails on the grounds, which feature three waterfalls. And only 10 mins away is Catarata Del Toro, a 300ft waterfall...

Thanks for finding us Chloe! Driving through Zarcero is not only the recommended route, but also the most scenic. Landscapes of green, rolling clouds, mist, a little fog, and dense forest prepare you for the magic of Bajos del Toro. It was a pleasure to be your hosts!

We visited El Silencio after a few days in the hot sun in Nicoya. It was perfect. Beautiful casitas, with top class facilities, the hot water bottle at night was a great touch. Food excellent, served by knowledgable and delightful well trained staff. Breakfasts also first class. We enjoyed cocktails and a game of cards round the roaring fire one...
