We loved our stay at El Silencio with our family of 4, including 2 kids ages 8 and 11. This was the start of our Costa Rican vacation and El Silencio was the perfect place to unplug and relax from normal life while enjoying the Cloud Forest. We were in Villa 17, along the river, and the villa was perfect...

El Silencio is member of Relais & Chateaux which grants that this magical place will be up to international high-end standards. No words can describe the experience at this resort. It is located within Costs Rican woods, with wonderful trails and waterfalls, an extraordinary scenery, but most importantly the whole mystic/nature experience. I travelled with my wife and we received...

Thank you for sharing your experience with the Trip Advisor community. El Silencio Lodge offers a unique glimpse into one of Costa Rica's less trodden regions. Dotted by waterfalls and surrounded by vast cloud forest mountains, it is a perfect place to slow down your pace. We look forward to your return.

Spent a couple of nights here. It's a beautiful place with lovely walks & spacious rooms. One morning from our terrace we watched the sun come up over the mountains as hummingbirds fed on the flowers in front of us. We really liked the new restaurant (Martin was especially helpful & friendly), however whilst the food was also good in...

Thanks for your celebration of our setting and describing such a wonderful sunrise, dotted by sunshine and hummingbirds. We are thrilled that you fully enjoyed our Hierbabuena Restaurant. We have been honing its offerings thanks to guest feedback and we are delighted to learn that options are much appreciated by our guests. Warmest regards!

We were greeted by a concierge who explained the layout of the hotel. Unfortunately he fell ill for the rest of our visit because I'm sure he would've taken very good care of us. Our bungalow was absolutely huge with an enormous comfortable bed. The hot water bottles provided at night were very much appreciated. The electric heater was maybe...

Saludos YorksireCherry! Thanks for highlighting your favorite experiences including oxcart painting and shopping at the local market for ingredients to make a delicious Olla de Carne traditional stew. We have taken note of your observations and thank you for your input. Yes, the Hierbabuena Restaurant offers a more informal ambiance and traditional Costa Rican favorites that are perfect for smaller...

My family spent a week in Manuel Antonio before finishing our trip in scenic Bajos del Toro. The property is beautiful and the staff is wonderful. The mystic hike was fantastic due to our guide, Kenneth's thoughtful description of the flora and fauna. The staff patiently indulged my son's desire to catch a fish. The chef prepared the trout perfectly....

This was the most luxurious accommodation in which we stayed while in Costa Rica. It consists of a group of stunning individual buildings in a remote area of the country deep in the cloud forest. Our family stayed in the Quetzal Villa, which had a large central area with a dining area and an arrangement of chairs and leather couches...

I've stayed at a lot of small boutique hotels all over the world. El Silencio is by far the best service I have experienced. Whilst overall we enjoyed our 3-night stay at the Lodge, there is room for improvement, most noticeably with regard to the food service. I'll start with the positives.
