This is a perfect retreat from the world in a lush cloud forest with dense vegetation and numerous waterfalls. There's hiking, horseback riding, a spa for activities. Executive chef Carlos Audres makes dining a special and personalized experience. Costa Rica is not known for its cuisine but El Silencio is the exception. A hideaway for nature lovers.

Thrilled to have delighted an enthusiastic foodie! It was a pleasure to be your hosts Mauimolly. Our Chef Carlos Andres has taken our farm-to-table concept to new nights. His in-depth knowledge of Costa Rica's traditions and passion for flavor is truly smile-inducing. Thanks for celebrating his signature flair.

El Silencio was a truly beautiful place with wonderful food, a fantastic setting, and great service. The villas were almost over-the-top nice, really unexpected for a place so remote. Big space, comfortable sitting area, private hot tub, robes and towels to die for. Big umbrellas always available for the pretty much constant precipitation. A beautiful front porch with rocking chairs...

El Silencio is a unique experience. We went with another couple for 3 nights Thanksgiving week. Highly recommend Costa Rican Drivers for transportation from the airport and for activities (day trip to Poas/ waterfall park). 3 nights was perfect here. It is very isolated and the drive from the airport is an adventure! It seemed like there was maybe a...

Thanks Lini for celebrating our mystical cloud forest and the El Silencio Lodge & Spa experience! It was a pleasure to be your special setting for a Thanksgiving celebration. Your excellent recommendations will certainly help future travelers. I have asked our staff to inspect our trail signage to ensure that it is accurate. Although the Suites originally featured gas fire...

The service and attention to detail by all the staff but especially Emilio our guide are second to none. This is a great spot from which to go bird watching on foot, on horseback or by car. The highlights for us were walks to three waterfalls, and the afternoon bird photography on horseback. The dining and food quality was exceptional...

it was a bit of a trek to get here, although only around an hour from San jose airport! peaceful haven of wildlife, humming birds (in fact so many birds), here you can just chill and do a leisurely walk to the 3 waterfalls, this you can actually do without a guide although we used the guide as its good...

Thanks Miminok for your kind celebration of our secluded cloud forest sanctuary! There is something magical about finding us, after winding down the mist-covered mountains of Costa Rica's central volcanic region. Thank you for describing the inspirational pace that helps guests enjoy a meaningful experience that is both planet-friendly and people-positive. Warmest regards!

This is an eco-lodge and not for all people. We thought it was going to be more luxurious. It was cold and damp, with not much to do. I realize that I should have done better research and expected a difference experience. We scheduled to do wine tasting and a cooking classes, but both were cancelled. So after we went...

Nestled miles from anywhere, you'll need a (4x4) car if you're using it as a base but this is the most perfect, relaxing, comfortable small eco-lodge I can imagine. Set in its own beautiful grounds and with it's own trails and waterfalls, the lodge is a home from home. Great food with far more variety than you'd imagine from locally...
