We enjoyed a 3 night stay in late August at this absolute treasure. It is quiet, relaxing and charming, with absolutely fantastic food and ambience with great service. It is not a 5 star hotel - far more personal and unique than that.

Arriving very late, we were greeted by Pierluigi who has been here from the outset. Bags efficiently deposited, a lovely candle lit dinner a deux in the garden followed, prepared and served by Pierluigi. The following three days were amongst the most restfull and happy you could experience. Athena's warm, relaxed hospitality makes this extraordinary place the perfect holiday to...

What vacation should be like: nature, culture (so many books you can borrow!), fresh genuine home-cooked food, conversation with interesting people (rooms are less than 10 so the place will never feel busy), calm and slow rhythms that make a 3-night stay feel like a long time away from everything. A magic place made unique by the gorgeous taste of...

Having never visited this part of Italy, I wasn't really sure what to expect and it took us a few days to get into the unique rhythm of this extraordinary property. That said, once we did -- we did not want to leave. Convento is intimate and unique. It's less like a hotel and more like a private country estate...

This place is heaven. I can't think of a place anywhere in the world I would rather stay. After 3 days I felt rejuvenated and calm. Excellent on every level. Thank you, il Convento for a wonderful few days. Have already booked to return in August.

Hidden behind the old convent walls, and in what is a very good rebuild of the environment, is the life and collections of the Late Alastair and Athena McAlpine. I thought I must have arrived in a parallel universe to the many other comments I read, but our experience was not a good one. This is a bohemian refuge, with...

This is a haven from the world with terrific food and unprecedented service. Pierluigi is a great chef that makes the simplest food that is so special. The most interesting people are among the guests and always a fun and wonderful time. This is worth the trip to this most uncommon place.

I cry each time I leave here as it so very magical....Athena, Pierluigi and all of the staff. I feel like I am insulated from the outside world. It is a truly magical place filled with art, music and of course, food. We adore being here and each time we leave I am sad and start planning our return. We...

Il Convento is like no other place you will ever have the good fortune to visit. Books, gardens, art, fine food & company. It is quite exceptional & i count myself as very lucky indeed, to stay there.
