Elm Grove Country House Hotel St. Florence SA70 8LS Set in 20 acres of land this imposing Georgian Hotel offers a relaxing stay in the lovely village of St. Florence. The service at breakfast and dinner is very good and you can relax after in the large lounge. The food was excellent with Jane’s Smoked Mackerel pate for starters or Welsh beef curry for mains, alongside brie and beetroot tart, red pepper and onion and chicken tagine, filet of salmon or the sea bass, all delicious. Leave room for the puddings and the lemon meringue or lemon tart will not disappoint. The only constructive comment I would make is that the time for dinner between 6.30 to 7pm is not sufficient time if you have been out all day exploring the delights of Pembroke. It should be at least an hour period we feel, though we know the meals are cooked to order. We heard of at least two couples that changed their mind on eating in, due to the time restriction and opted to walk the 5/7 minutes to the local Sun Inn in the village as they serve up to 8.30pm. Breakfast is between 8.30 and 9.30am. For our room no.7, (a twin bedded room) we felt the ensuite was too small and it would benefit by having walk in shower, long mirror across the rear wall and wall cabinet. We had to borrow a small table from the lounge to put out our toiletries. All in all we enjoyed our 3 day stay in the Elm Grove and the food and service provided. Also nice to sit in the two wooden rocking chairs in the garden overlooking the field where two horses were grazing.Regards Gary Saunders…
We have just returned from a week at Elm Grove and can't speak highly enough of it. The hotel is beautifully furnished and spotlessly clean. It has a lovely garden to relax in but is near a wide variety of places to visit. The owners and staff are extremely helpful and if you opt to stay for evening meal they are excellent. It was our second visit to Elm Grove and we will definitely be going again.
4 nights at Elmgrove..just beautiful. Peaceful and relaxing from the moment we walked through the door into a very grand entrance hall. Met and shown to our room by Alan. He explained about the grounds and the local area, followed by tea and coffee in the lounge. Breakfast is fabulous and unhurried. A no fuss swap to skimmed milk too. We had an early start one day for a boat trip for which a breakfast tray was provided the night before with a small note wishing us a good trip. If you don't want to stay in the town then Elmgrove is a perfect base with pretty rooms, free parking, lovely grounds, gardens, games room, comfy lounge and a personal touch, with a free pass to Picton Castle..what a fab place!! We will be back no doubt.
Elm Grove is located within 10mins from Tenby. The Country is large and decorated in a traditional style. Breakfast was nice, but maybe a bit limited, it seemed to cater for the elderly more than ages and tastes. Local to the House is two pubs which both serve reasonable "Pub Grub" and good ale. Elm Grove just needs a bit of updating to modernise it, the bathroom was basic and not on par with other hotels .. They could easily add a gym / or spa and enrich its offering .. Costs are slightly higher due to Tenby being near.
Fabulous Georgian country house Beautifully kept and maintained to the highest standards Afternoon tea upon arrival on the terrace Personal showing to your room Great location in 20 acres Walk into the village for evening meal choice at the two pubs Breakfast was the best by far we had on our tour of Wales with gluten free options of the highest quality
