This is a relaxed, laid-back sort of place - but that's what you want on Easter Island! We enjoyed staying at this fairly basic, but attractive and friendly hotel. Raul, who runs it, is laid-back to the point of horizontal, but underlying his somewhat bizarre and eccentric character is a real charm and friendliness. For example, the first night we... More

We stayed here in Spring of 2009-- I'm just going over my notes from that trip and thought I'd do a review. I believe Raul was not there when we stayed, but the hostess that was there took very good care of us. The hotel is in a fine location with a rental car company located across the street, an... The rooms are really basic, a little old fashion, the beds have thin mattresses but the hotel is located literally 5 minutes from the "airport", you could almost walk to the airport (no need to worry about the noise, there is only one plane landing and one departing on Easter Island every day) and it is on the main road... Stayed three nights and had booked on the internet after reading some reviews on trip advisor. The garden was lush, breakfast fair but the regular chef was on vacation so it wasn't open for lunch or dinner, staff appeared friendly and sought to be helpful. The room was tired with peeling wallpaper, a creaky bed and a cracked shower floor... More

korike, owner at Hotel Orongo, responded to this review

As published the hotel charges $60 for booking purposes disregarding the type of room, as a precaution to avoid false reservations. The customer was confused, we explained that her room rate was $90 but she refused to accept that. Still we discounted her room paying $80/night. The rest of her comments are irrelevant and misrepresent our level of service, well... More

The price is reasonable and the room is simple yet equipped everything. I met a couple who paid $180 to another Hotel called "Vicxxxxx" and get a very lousy room. Service is also good and very convenient to everywhere. The restaurant attached with the Hotel is worthy to have at least 2 nights in terms of its price $20. It... More

My spouse and I have had a wonderful time in Easter Island ( Rapa Nui ) and staying at Hotel Orongo was the key to our successful trip. To begin with, we were greeted at the airport by Don Raul, the owner of the hotel, with lovely floral necklaces. On arriving at the hotel, fresh fruit juice was served by... More

Easter Island had always been a magical island in my mind and it certainly fulfilled my expectations. Hotel Orango was picked based on reviews and once more we were not disappointed. The rooms were small, but spotlessly clean. Never a bug in sight. The bathroom was a bit tired and the shower lacked a shower head, but it all served... More

I was looking for reasonable priced accomodations with a good location that were clean and well maintained. Based on the reviews on Tripadvisor, I chose Hotel Orongo in the middle of Hanga Roa, which is the perfect location. At $60 USD per night, these accomodations were on par, if not better in some respects to other so called superior hotels... More

Easter Island seems mysterious and magical from afar, but when you land at the Hanga Roa Airport, the reality of arriving in one of the most isolated places on the planet hits you as much as the humidity. There is only one town, and with the exception of one high-end hotel on the outskirts of town, all the hotels and... More
