Not far from the majesty of the Monchique hills is this delightful hotel on the very pretty pictured lake, near the charming village of Santa Clara A Velha. Frank and Daniela are the charming owner hosts and they bend over backwards to make sure everyone has a great time. The food, cooked by Daniela is superb and varied. The wine list, as you would expect from the premier wine making centre of the country, (some would say of the whole Iberian peninsular), is not only a complete bargain but also full of gems. I am not a birdwatcher, preferring all the lovely aquatic activities on offer here, but people come from far and wide to watch the huge variety of birds here, expertly guided by Frank. If you are looking for nature at its best, peace and tranquility excellent service and good food (and wine) this is the place to stay! Frank and Daniela will make you feel at home but also let you relax. Here you feel disconnected, relaxed and with a beautiful lake to swim, sail, canoe or SUP you just wont want to leave. The rest of the staff also provide an excellent service, professional but friendly. All in all the perfect place for nature lovers, will return soon.

I spent 4 days here with my dog Bella and it was a most relaxing time. Frank and Daniela spoiled me with breakfast at the own terrace of the room every morning, at any time I wanted & a home cooked meal every evening. A beautiful place overlooking a lake with many water activities and hidden hikes around it. I will definitely be back and hope it will be very soon. We spent a few days Birding in late October (after a recommendation) and can heartily endorse all the other glowing comments. A delightful trip which hugely exceeded our expectations. The human dynamo that is Frank made it unforgettable. Whilst guided around the coast, plains, hide and local walks, we could just observe and enjoy, with Frank emailing us his stunning photos of what we had seen afterwards. The location is unforgettable too, relaxing in the evening sun over drinks and delicious dinners, hosted by Frank and Daniella. We will be back again next year. Julian and Caroline Davies

This was my second visit to the Quinta and just as amazing. From waking up to birdsong to ending the day with a delicious dinner, every moment is a pleasure. If you're looking to dodge the hustle and bustle for a few days, soak up some epic scenery and enjoy the company of a true birding maestro, then look no further.
