We waited 45 minutes on a quiet sunny Monday afternoon in May for what turned out to be an overcooked piece of cod and chips and what looked like a frozen burger. Bar empty and I can see why. When I went to the bar there were no staff there and when he arrived he complained to me about there...

We stayed one night at the Anchor Inn. The rooms were small, but the beds were comfortable and the rooms were clean. Both rooms faced the street but also had sea views which was lovely. The hotel could use some paint and freshening up, but overall it's a nice place to stay. Breakfast was included in our room cost. So...

We live near by and took and visited early evening for dinner. The garden looks sad an neglected. Shrubs weeds blocking lovely sea views. Not a great welcome. Service was adequate. There was one lady who was very friendly and efficient but sorry did not get your name. Food was ok but nothing special. Toilets, well I had to use...

Whilst on a family holiday we spent half a day in Beer, we loved the village and enjoyed a great meal in the garden of The Anchor Inn. Great food great views. We would definitely recommend the pub if your visiting the local area

This is a great pub overlooking the beach with charming beer garden and incredible views over the cliffs and bay. Good wine list too! And you can watch the big matches. The food looked very good but we didn't have dinner here; massive portion of fish with chips and delicious mussels; will try them next time.

So my husband and I just wanted a quiet getaway. There were so many B&Bs for such a small place it was hard to decide. Really pleased we decided to book with the Anchor Inn though. Our room was so close to the beach. What a view! OK, so it could use a lick of paint here and there, and...

Dined at lunchtime. Waited nearly an hour for over cooked, lukewarm hunters chicken. Staff indifferent and unfriendly. Been here lots of times in the past but no more!! What a shame as the building has a commanding position, beautiful beer garden and obviously whoever is in charge now has no culinary or customer service awareness!

Called in yesterday at 2.30 for lunch and drinks. Ordered two sandwiches (delicious) a small glass of wine and a J20 topped with soda. Received 23p from £20. I queried this with drinks waitress who confirmed the charges after telling us 'Wine is expensive in pubs, but the soda is free". Waited until food was bought to table, and queried...

It is in a good location right by the sea front, so views from bedrooms. Our room was small with a minuscule en-suite. The shower drain was blocked and the toiletries were not replaced. The floorboards were VERY squeaky in our room and also the one above which was not good late at night. The bar was OK and the food...

Despite there being confusion on arrival regarding the room we had requested and the keys not being available this was resolved fairly swiftly and to our satisfaction. The room was clean, comfortable and had excellent views of the beach. Our children were accommodated and we had a thoroughly enjoyable stay. The breakfast menu was excellent with plenty of choice and...
