I've spent two nights at the Castle now and cannot rate it highly enough. Clean, tidy and comfortable. Well worth a stopover if driving to the West Fjords. Good value from people who understand what their visitors need

We took a walk on the trail above the beach during high tide. Checking in and out was a breeze. The cabins are ideal for 2 people! Warm and clean these spectacular little units have it all! Toaster, coffee machine and a fridge stocked with a hardy breakfast. On day 2 we rode horses on the beach, an excellent cap to a magical visit! Many thanks to our hosts!

My family and I left The Castle today and we will miss it! Carolyn and her family gave my family an unforgettable experience. The room was wonderful and cozy, we had everything we needed, unlike many other cabins or guest houses that are double the price. The location is perfect and we had a great bonus activity by booking an hour horseback riding with Carolyn’s son Andre. My 8 year old that has never been on a horse was at ease and had a superb adventure, he still wants to go back and do it again. Have a cup of tea looking at the sea and enjoy a truly special moment. If you have kids there is a soccer field in walking distance. Thank you again

We, two couples, got two cabins in the yard of the family "castle". Nice small cabin which has whatever you may need on your way. Cosy and clean. The landlady, Caroline, a most sympathetic lady, was very helpful. She told us about the place around and helped us with binoculars to watch birds and seals. A very generous breakfast was prepared in the small but fully furnished kitchen. A most relaxing home for travellers after a long day. Outside, by the cabin, we could sit and have a nice drink. Total relaxation! Caroline, Sie haben es wunder schoen gemacht. Wir hatten eine schoene Zeit. (Die Israelis).

What can I say but let the pictures do the talking. We had planned a Iceland Road Trip and regretted allocating just one night at The Castle. This residence is supreme and ideal for the northern lights. And what a night it turned out to be. We arrived in plenty of time to take a look at the scenic surroundings and were very pleased with our accomodation. Although we had shared bathrooms, the bathroom was maintained clean and dry and our room had a small sink with a fridge as well. Very well thought of rooms. Highly recommend! The hosts were beyond helpful and accomodating, and the accomodation they provided was clean and cosy with good views of the bay. The hosts themselves have their private accommodation upstairs and are helpful in providing information on sights etc. We were able to use the washing machine and that was a major help. Most common comments on the northern lights is how they are not often visible with the naked eye. We have in our travels witnessed the northern lights several times but the show that went on for hours during our one night stay here was so spectacular, the neighborhood came out to watch. It was a cloudless and clear night and the show began at 7pm. The bay area was lit up in all colours that danced so low, it was as if the lights danced just above our heads. All around us, we were unable to take our eyes off the show that was the strongest northern lights we have ever seen. Visible with the naked eye, this was the best show we have ever come across. Hands down! Am pretty sure on a good night, there have been some very intense northern lights visible here. Irrespective of the lights, the surrounding bay area is just pleasant and beautiful and worthy a visit all year round. The hosts informed us of a baby seal that was rescued and looked after by the community, close to our accomodation. Am sure the seal is now grown and released safe back in the sea, but have included a pic of the little one nonetheless. A lovely town and superior accomodation. Highly recommend!
