Hotel universal is neat clean modern and very welcoming. The staff are friendly speak good English and the facilities are above average, the Hotel has good parking and good Wi-Fi which is available in all areas. Prices are reasonable. Possibly the only thing lacking is a buffet breakfast instead. Rather than your common smorgasbord type breakfast, you are provided with...

I think this hotel is a good transit hotel between Sofia and the mountains. The hotel is situated right in the city center, and about 10-15 minutes walking from the train station. The staff was really friendly, but not really giving a lot of information upon our arrival regarding hotel facilities and wifi code and so on. I've read some...

my stay here started very well,, reception greeting and first impression of room were great, large and clean. they even gave the WiFi code with asking. that's where we started going downhill! the WiFi in reception is great, but go up to the bedrooms, the signal strength is good but don't hope to get enough data to even look at...

A very friendly hotel with good food and basic but functional rooms. Unfortunately the wifi can be a bit patchy. The staff are helpful and the welcome is pleasant and helpful. The area is not brilliant but the town is trying to improve itself. From what I could see (in the dark) the town square is the place to go...

The hotel was nice, relatively big rooms. A big plus was the underground parking. We ate well at the restaurant. Waitress was not speaking English very well, but at least she tried as hard as she could. For breakfast we had to pick from a list of predefined choices, there wasn't Sweedish buffee. Overall very pleased with our stay

We stayed at Hotel Universal in Dupnitsa on the assumption that it would help reduce the drive time to Rila Monastery. While we guessed correctly (it's about a 45 minute drive to Rila, as opposed to the 2 hours it would take from Sofia), let it be known that there is absolutely nothing to do in Dupnitsa itself. No quality...

Dupnitsa in general is in a pretty miserable state. Maybe the organized which has stained the town for so long is to blame. Regardless the Universal Hotel is a nice exception to this. The rooms are clean and modern as is the hotel in general. Get the rooms on the top floor as they have a nice balcony and are...

Dupnitsa is one of the Bulgarian towns that was unlucky enough to have stayed for a long time without any serious improvement, failing infrastructure is obvious everywhere. Dirty streets, full of holes roads and if it wasnt near Rila Monastery, the city of Sofia and the town itself attached to the main road coming in from Greece....there would be no...

We visited Dupnitsa for a wedding and didnt really know what to expect from a small, hidden city in Bulgaria. But everything turned to be perfect and the hotel was wow when we arrived. Only thing i cant understand is the number of stars bur it doesnt really matter! Would definitely recommend the hotel for everyone.
