Property's Favourite Review
Recently my wife, 4 children ages 10-13 and I all had the pleasure of spending 4 days at Siwash. We are a young and very active family that loves to be outdoors and are always brainstorming trips to engage the kids, separate from the tech world and enjoy healthy family time. Of course, to fully appreciate and enjoy the experience, my wife and I need a break from the logistics of arranging transit, activity planning and meals – no easy feat for a family of 6! Siwash achieved it all and more. Arranged airline/car transfer, fully scheduled days (you choose the activities the night before) and sumptuous multi-course meals in a comfortable setting. The activities were right up our ally. What made them even more fulfilling was the instruction which allowed us all to better appreciate what we were doing and derive maximum enjoyment. As beginner riders we were introduced (literally) to our horses, taught to groom, saddle, mount and ride. The horses were chosen specifically for us based on size and bit on character. Fly-fishing was taught by the real McCoy’s – the resident Scotsman and Englishman. We are still not sure where the practice originated but definitely enjoyed the lesson culminating in catching 2-4lb Rainbow Trout in the on-premises lake. Shooting (22 calibre rifles, shotgun/skeet) on the range, hatchet throwing at log targets in the woods and archery complete with bullseye practice and a hunting competition (fake animals with targets) were enjoyed by all in a friendly, competitive and ultra-safe environment. Our final activity was a hike to Crater Lake. The climb down is definitely not for the faint of heart but well rewarded with an exhilarating dip in a cold pool fed by a powerful and picturesque waterfall. Care was evident in every detail from reception, décor and service. Meals were perhaps the epitome of this diligence with perfectly set tables, friendly, knowledgeable wait-staff and amazing meals with many ingredients sourced on site. A great, casual introduction for the kids to fine dining and proper table manners! Finally, a word about the setting is necessary as a fire ravaged the area not six years ago rendering a spectacularly unique experience to see a forest regenerate itself firsthand. This is truly a remarkable opportunity to learn about specific flora and witness nature’s power of healing. One readily appreciates the underlying rolling landscape, small bodies of water, groves of spontaneously seeded Aspens, fields of pink fireweed, clear blue sky and clean fresh air while driving to and fro the ranch but especially best while hiking or on horseback. I got my rugged outdoors, my wife got her 5 star accommodation and the kids unanimously voted it the trip of a lifetime! Thank you Siwash, truly something for everyone.

Siwash was the perfect blend of a relaxing retreat and an exciting adventure. They had all kinds of fun activities so we got to spend some days out exploring the trails and others relaxing at the ranch. The food is made with locally-sourced ingredients and vegetables fresh from the garden, so every meal was absolutely delicious and very fresh. They were also very accommodating for all kinds of dietary requirements. What’s even better is that the five-star food was paired with a five-star dining venue. We loved starting our day with breakfast on the deck in the sunshine and ending it with a candlelight dinner under the stars. The horses are all very well taken care of and are lovely to ride. The guides help you learn to groom and tack up your horse before heading out for a ride through the trails. They did a great job of making sure beginner riders were comfortable and safe, while still making sure it was a fun experience for more experienced riders. The entire experience was outstanding. The rooms were all so beautiful and the beds were so comfortable. The whole team was amazing. All the little details were taken care of to make sure our experience was unforgettable.

My husband and I stayed at SWL in July and had the most wonderful time! Allyson, the owner, her son Marshall and the entire team made our stay an unforgettable experience. We stayed in the Bear Tent and loved every second up on the ridge. We were lucky and had the entire tent camp to ourselves enjoying the privacy and the wonderful sunrises over Siwash Lake from the hot tub. The walk up and down to the main house is very pleasant and takes no longer then 8-10 minutes. Be aware that the tents can heat up during mid-day in summer…there is a fan but this only helps a little. So we used the comfy lounge chairs on the deck that provide enough shade to comfortably read and nap. The nights are cool and so very peaceful up there. We slept like babies. The resort braced a wild fire in 2017 which they made us aware of - so the surrounding trees are mostly burnt. But the beauty at Siwash is to witness how nature recovers and possesses phenomenal regenerative powers. The forests are full of picturesque pink fireweed flowers and young, fresh green trees. There are wildflowers everywhere. We enjoyed wonderful horseback rides with Emily and Michaela (a dream team) on their very well kept and very well trained horses. You will get one horse assigned to you for the entire stay and you are encouraged to participate in the grooming and saddling of your horse. Being a horse person I truly appreciated this opportunity. You get a chance to bond with your horse and to feel safe around it (same can be said from the horses point of view ;-)). The rides take you across open meadows full of wild flowers and through adventurous forest trails. All the horses are very surefooted and responsive and the length and difficulty of each ride is adapted to the experience level of the riders. Johannes being an absolute beginner had a great time and felt very safe. Fishing was guided by Jack, a very knowledgeable and passionate fisherman. The sessions either took place on the wonderful house lake – my husband caught several huge trout – or at the river. We had a lovely day excursion to the river starting with very successful fly fishing, followed by a lovely picnic and ending our day swimming and tubing. It was a blast! (Emily, Michaela and myself rode the horses the river. My husband drove with Jack) Last but not least – the food! Ralph spoiled us with amazing breakfasts, lunches, picnics and dinners! The quality of the ingredients – fresh salads from Alyson’s garden – was amazing. The wine list features excellent local wines from the Okanagan Valley. We loved the wines from the Blue Mountain winery. But what made this place even more special were the wonderful dinner conversation with Allyson sharing her adventures building this resort from the ground up, fighting the fire and listening to her and Marshall’s visions for Siwash Lake. It is not often that you get the chance to talk to real pioneers… Thank you all for a memorable stay at your paradise!

Thankyou Allyson, Marshall and incredible staff at Siwash Lake Wilderness resort for an experience of a lifetime that we will never forget. My daughter and I are approaching two milestone birthdays this fall and decided to celebrate with a mother daughter trip that involved our lifelong passion for horses. From the warm welcome upon arrival, our incredible stay in your beautiful Bear tent at Star camp, exceptional staff, incredible food, spectacular scenery, lovely horses, multiple activities, a highlight being the fly fishing outings with our excellent coach, thanks Jack. The overall attention to detail was unsurpassed. The story of saving the Ranch against all odds during the Elephant Hill wildfire of 2017 are what movies are made of. As we departed on our final day for our journey home we were sent off with a lovely packed lunch, smiling faces and warm waves, not to say goodbye but to say until next time….

Allyson and Marshall and their amazing team cover every detail to make time spent at Siwash Lake an incredible experience! Although riding the horses was a favourite part, I loved the hiking trails, the ax throwing and the shooting range, and wish we had more time for paddling on the lake, fly fishing and much more. Listening to the symphony of bird song while watching the sun rise over the hill top was an unforgettable way to start the day. The meals were absolutely exquisite in flavour and presentation with freshly harvested vegetables and salads from the ranch's own garden. At the end of the day, it was pure heaven to sink into the luxurious bed for the most blissful sleep. I will definitely return to this magnificent resort.

Wowza! Loved having 'my own' horse for the trail rides - we actually got to know each other ... so different from other places! I love trail riding and it was sooo pretty seeing all the new growth coming up and the flowers (!) after the fire. Nature regenerating 🙏 We loved also learning how to fly fish (I could get into that with such an excellent coach!) and we caught lots of fish. The staff are awesome ... nothing is too much trouble...want your stirrups longer/shorter? no garlic in your vegetarian meal? a glass of Chardonnay? No problem! I could rave...the food, the natural surroundings, the activities all awesome. But most of all the people who put their heart and soul into making sure their guests have a great time!

My wife and I visited Siwash lake for a week last July and it was definitely our trip of a lifetime. We rode horses through fields of pink flowers and fished for big trout in the lakes and rivers. We hiked through the most beautiful wild places ever. The food and service was outstanding. We stayed in one of the luxury tents. It was incredibly upscale and so special being able to watch the stars while camped out in the most luxurious king bed ever. We’ll be back!

We had been aware of Siwash for years and finally got to go this year and it was worth the wait. Siwash really is a beautiful place with stunning scenery, 5-star service, absolutely amazing food and a warm and relaxed vibe. We stayed in Bear tent at Star Camp and it was just perfect - pure glamping with the most comfortable bed, separate bathroom, and a beautiful outdoor shower with a view over the lake. We had a warm, cosy stove for the few nights it was cold and hot water bottles left in our bed just in case. The hot tub was a perfect place to enjoy the canopy of stars each night. We stayed a week and tried out pretty much everything: fly fishing, shooting, archery and canoeing on the lake. All great fun with expert tuition and facilities. Breakfast, lunch and dinner were always fantastic - creative cuisine beautifully presented - not a place to start a diet! But the highlight was definitely the horses. It was a privilege to groom and ride out on our assigned horses every morning and we got to know our horses over the week. The many trails were beautiful and the horses so relaxed and fun to ride. Each night, the horses are set free to roam as a herd and come back together every morning – a beautiful sight. The Siwash staff are professional and so friendly, constantly working hard to make your stay the best it can be. The owners, Alyson and Marshall, are completely committed to ensuring their guests are well looked after, and the pride and passion they have for their home, business and the environment shines through in everything they and their staff do. Our visit was truly the best experience and one we hope to be able to do again someday.

My husband, myself and our daughter spent 4 nights at Siwash to celebrate her 30th Birthday in October. What a dream of a place it is and honestly, the real highlight of our 2 weeks in Canada. The setting is incredible, skies were blue and we were treated like family. Our highlight was horse riding every day- the most truly magnificent horses and rides enjoying wilderness and wildlife. We tried archery, went hiking, kayaking, my husband, fly fishing and even ended with a massage. The food was very special indeed-lunches outside every day in the sunshine, drinks by the roaring lodge fire and amazing dinners and wines. So many little details had been thought of throughout our stay and this, together with the kindness of the staff made our stay one we will always remember, thank you.
