Stopped in for one night while passing thru town. Hits and misses all around really..... Hits? Most up to date room on our travels thru all the small towns in northern Ontario that we had in an entire week. Beautiful view of the lake, and the bed was super comfy. There is also a restaurant there that had great eats and the staff were super nice and friendly. The misses? If you're a light sleeper you will for certain hear the transport trucks driving by all night, it sounded like they were coming thru the wall lol. The deck we had was shared with other guests and could be annoying in the summer months if you want quiet conversation. The price was a little steep as well, I paid $280 for a 1-night stay and a dinner meal that was a 2 for 1 wing night. If you're in the area (Which really doesn't have much around) i would suggest staying here even with all the misses. If you're just looking for a dinner place this would definitely be the place of choice in my opinion.…
My sisters and I stayed in a Chalet for 2 nights for a little getaway. The Chalet was clean and comfortable. The view was amazing! We ate at the restaurant when they were serving pub fare and had the best hamburger I've ever eaten! But the best thing about this place was service from the waitstaff to the owner everyone was very pleasant. Zach went above and beyond to help us out when we were in need. I can't wait to go back and will definitely be booking again.
First the positives the view is wonderful from the room and the beachfront is kept very nice. Also the price of the room is very reasonable. The negatives the property could be kept better. There were dead bugs and cobwebs everywhere nobody all summer had cleaned them up. There where rotting wood planks on our balcony that needed to be replace. The room wasn’t cleaned once the entire 4 days the reason/excuse was Covid. Well most places have now returned to cleaning the rooms during the stay. The queen bed was awful I squeezed terribly when you moved on it during the night and there was lots of dust under and behind the bed. Charge more for the rooms and hire some more people to clean the place. They seem to be hyper focused on weddings and the rest is partially neglected.
The Sands What a beautiful location with an amazing view. My daughter had booked her wedding at Sands approximately a year ago. We went to the venue three days prior to the wedding just to have one last look at the reception hall, on arrival the bride was informed that there was an increase in the ceremony charge and the drink tickets had been increased. As the wedding coordinator was preparing the brides invoice, which by the way was calculated incorrectly as the three of us stood there asking many questions regarding the total amount of the invoice the wedding coordinator was not understanding our concerns even after many attempts of explaining simple math to her. She then proceeded to tell us that she was going to have a manager look it over when she came back, instead of saying I am sorry but there was a mistake on the invoice and you ladies were correct she just made some lame excuse to cover her mistake. We also asked if the stairs to the venue would be cleaned, they were so dirty, and the number of cobwebs and bugs was atrocious. She said yes, they will be done on Thursday as the wedding was not until Saturday. When we arrived Friday there was no improvement to the stairs or its surrounding area. On the day of the wedding one of the groom's uncles took it upon himself to clean it the best he could. The rooms were not well cleaned, some guests had dirty bed sheets, stained and dirty towels and again the cobwebs in the rooms looked like they had been there for months. The duvets had no covers just a sheet thrown on the top. The mold in the air conditioning in the bride's room was so disgusting. On the day of the wedding the wedding coordinator hadn't been around all day and was not in contact with the bride till much closer to the ceremony, as the bridal party was doing some last minute decorating in the hall, some of the napkins that were provided by the venue looked as though they hadn't been washed, as we approached the owner who had also been called on the phone many times leading up to our arrival but chose not to return calls was ask for new napkins she was very rude and started making accusations against some of the guests who had been there the previous night because it’s a two night minimum to say at the resort. She then proceeded to ask her son to join the conversation and things got heated very quickly, the lack of customer service at this place was unbelievable, they continue to use COVID as a excuse for the staff shortage but it is more of a management issue. As the wedding time was about an hour away the bridal party then had to set up the chairs outside for the ceremony because again no one had shown up to help with this. Some of the guests booked the restaurant for 4pm so they would have time to eat before the wedding at 6. They were all seated and ordered drinks and dinner, the drinks came at 5:10 and the food at 5:30 which then had to be boxed as there was no time to eat before the wedding. The bar was not stocked properly, they handed out incorrect drink orders to several people. They ran out of alcohol and some of the premixed can drinks, and some of the juices that were used to mix the drinks. It is very unfortunate to how things are handled at this location as it could be run so much better. Overall, the wedding was amazing considering all the issues that needed to be handled leading up to my daughter's special day. Such a shame this place could be amazing…
Popped in for directions and stayed for drinks and atmosphere. Great views of the lake and close to Wilno and Barry’s bay. Zach was a great host to our spontaneous visit, so kind and helpful! We will definitely return to spend a night or two!!!
Good restaurant and service. Comfortable beds. TV remote would not turn on or TV. I had an excellent view of the lake. Sandy Beach. Rental canoes are available. Full service spa is part of the hotel. Had a terrific massage by a RMT.
Great location, beautiful rooms, beautifully appointed but our first impression was...."Are you checking in because the restaurant is closed" and then the door was shut behind her. Not quite the way I would be greeting a group with 6 rooms booked at an establishment. We really had no idea where the office was to check in, as the door that was slammed in our face led to the restaurant that apparently closed. We finally tried that door, to at least figure out where to check in. Tucked away in the corner was the check in desk (staffed by the rude first impression. After that, everything was perfect unti the internet went down sometime in the evening but there was no one to contact to get their router rebooted. We were leaving at 7:30 in the morning but the "office" didn't open until 8:00 am. So, no official receipt and no one to comment to about their internet. NOW the restaurant...completely different story. We couldn't have had a better server. Pleasant, accommodating and perfect attention to detail and orders. She certainly cheered us up. The food was simply delicious. Every dish we ordered was raved about. I would highly recommend this establishment for their food. The rooms were huge, the water was hot and the beds were very comfortable. Once again, minus the humans on staff, this place would have received 5 "stars" for sure.…
The Sands was a beautiful and convenient stop over on our recent snowmobile trip. We stayed for two nights and enjoyed everything about the property, including the spa! Great meals, attentive, friendly staff, and owners, It was obvious that everyone working at the property wanted to ensure a great guest experience. Our room was clean, neat and tidy, and had a comfortable bed. We highly recommend this property! The spa services was a highlight for me, and part of the reason we chose this property. I was not disappointed! The spa is located in a small building with a beautiful view of the lake. Spa staff are wonderful, and the services I experienced were absolutely excellent.
Had a wonderful girls' weekend at Sands on Golden Lake this past weekend. Sylvie at the front desk was very friendly and helpful, and helped us find our way around. We stayed in a double-queen room and it was large and welcoming with a gorgeous view of the lake outside large windows. The beds were extremely comfortable and although it was a chilly weekend, we could adjust the temperature to suit us. We spent quite a bit of time at the restaurant, and all the meals we had were delicious, served quickly, and the serving staff were very pleasant. The floor manager, Bonnie, checked our vaccination records very efficiently when we entered the first time. The owners (Joanne and Zach) spent quite a bit of time with us and made sure that we were having a good time. Kaylib was a first-time server and he was very friendly and served us efficiently and promtly. The spa is a very lovely little building on the beach and I would highly recommend Gwen (The massage therapist)! There was entertainment on the Saturday night, a local celebrity (Roddy Piper), and the music was lively and covered country and popular songs. He encouraged us to join in and get up and dance! All in all, I would highly recommend a weekend or longer at the Sands on Golden Lake. I will come back in the summer to check out the beautiful sandy beach.…
This is a beautiful spot right on Golden Lake that will totally relax you. The staff ( Zack and his family ) with welcome you with open arms and make you feel at home. The view from our was spectacular and located just above the beach. The room was large, very stylish and very clean with comfy beds. The food, although a limited menu, was very good, the sands burger was my choice, excellent. The complimentary breakfast was all we needed to get us going satisfied. We came here in the fall but we will definitely be back in the summer. Steve s.
