I meant to write this so long ago but life got in the way! How many months later and I am still thinking of our trip to hooking by the sea. Our whole trip was just magical. We stayed in the “big Burt” room and it was so great. It was so refreshing to have these few days of stillness and clarity. Oh, and the breakfasts that Victoria made were amazing by the way. Her dog Bear is very cute as well. I think about our trip often and how we can incorporate what we learned there (being off our phones, and being out in nature) into our daily city life. Next time we want to come for longer. I don’t know what it is about Victoria’s retreat and the island itself, but it really was one of the best trips I’ve ever been on. Thank you so much Victoria! Stayed here for 1 night in September and had a wonderful time! The property is lovely and in a great location to experience Brier Island. It is beautifully decorated with many unique pieces. The host was so lovely and welcoming! It was great to talk to her and learn about the property and the history of life on the island. She was very helpful, friendly and a master artisan. It was interesting to learn about her art and animals. It is admirable what she has accomplished with her farm, property and the house. Had a great time and wish we could have stayed longer!

Six months prior to my scheduled trip to Brier Island, I sent an email to Vickie, the owner of Hooking By The Sea. We followed up the email with a phone conversation. After our conversation I knew this was the place for me! For months I anxiously awaited our trip there. On the day of our arrival we were greeted by Vickie in her Victoria garb. We sat in the garden area and chatted. The sense of being at HOME immediately overtook us. When we weren't relaxing in the Big Bert room we strolled the grounds and enjoyed all of Vickie's livestock (sheep, alpaca, chickens, miniature horses, rabbits). So very cool! I sat with her one evening and watched her spin wool. I took the opportunity of purchasing yarn from her for my Fall crochet projects. Very special! I can't say

My family and I stayed with Victoria one night to go whale watching, and in this case, it really was about the journey not the destination. What we thought was "just" going to be a place to sleep before the main event of whale watching, turned into a main event itself. Visiting her home and farm deserves a trip all on its own. Its everything you need to feel at home away from home. Highly recommended.
