Situated in a beautiful setting, I couldn't help but think that this grand old dame is relying a bit too much on past glories to maintain her reputation. No working TV in the rooms, a heater that tripped the lights, everything with a faint musty smell, a truly appalling breakfast with no alternatives on offer, Old Halliwell is in desperate...

Dear 736iank Thank you for bringing to our attention your unsatisfactory stay at Old Halliwell. We have explained to you upon arrival and apologized for the inconvenience that the TV in the room is not working due to being hit twice by lightning and the fact that it was a weekend and will only have it repaired during the coming...

The place is located in a tranquil setting, rooms are spotless and the staff are lovely. Jane and Mike who run the place are lovely people who are more than happy to suggest places of interest to visit and how to get there. Anne and Dolorous who work in the hotel are lovely people and cannot do enough for you....

This guest house is nestled in the KZN midlands. Well maintained old trading post. Beautiful old building with lush green vegetation. The rooms very spacious and nice veranda. Fireplace and plenty wood. The food is very good. Management hands on and professional.

My family and I once again spent the weekend of the 29 - 31 July 2016 at the Old Halliwell Country Inn. We have visited the Old Halliwell Country Inn a couple of times over the years and we always return. We booked again this year as my daughter took part in the KZN Gymnastics Qualifier in Pietermartizburg....we booked the...

We stayed over for a night while down for the Comrades. Old Halliwell is a little piece of paradise run by friendly folk and the place has a beautiful, old farm house feel! The rooms are big with stunning views and a fireplace for the cooler nights. We will definitely be back and this time for a much longer stay!

My husband and I wanted to get away, from Durban, for a winters night in the Midlands, and decided on this country inn. Having stayed at many places in the Midlands, we thought Old Halliwell was very nice. We were looked after by Dolores, who was very helpful, and gave us great service. Our room was lovely, with a beautiful...

Darling was running Comrades this year... always reason for said supporter, cheerleader, screamer to be a tad tense.... We were a late arrival at Old Halliwell and our welcome was just wonderful. Anne welcomed us warmly and even helped lug our obscene amount of luggage, fridge, diving equipment etc etc to our suite....(we had a visit planned to Moz for...

My wife and I had been searching for a venue to host our wedding. While we came across many places we ended up being disappointed with the other venues. Most had terrible facilities or over priced rates. Not so at Old Halliwell! Jane, Anne and the team go out of their way to make sure that your experience at Old...

We only went here for an afternoon lunch. The place is beautiful and very tranquil and the history is magnificent, However the service was poor as we waited long to be served and we were the only guests there. The food was stale and mediocre. We also had to go look for the person in order to settle our bill...

Old Halliwell is a beautifully restored old farmhouse. The décor and furnishings are wonderful. The view looking into Karkloof valley is amazing. We stayed there for our 46th wedding anniversary and really enjoyed it. The staff are so helpful, especially Anne who could not do enough for us. Extra bonus our small dog could come along and enjoyed walking around...
