We really enjoyed our stay at the Apartments Dubra in September. The summer crowds were gone and the cafes seemed to have as many locals as visitors, very laid back. Our apartment was most excellent in every way; clean; tranquil setting; helpful and very friendly owners who speak multiple languages; great view of Komiza from the 3rd floor Lavender apt. What else is there? Well, they have a good website and wi-fi.

I've stayed in these apartments twice - Bougainvillea is on the ground floor and its advantage is a big terrace with lots of shade! Lavender is on the top floor and was even better in my opinion, because (like one of the previous reviewers said) it probably has the best view in town. There's nothing like eating your breakfast in peace on that balcony...
The owners are really nice and everything is well maintained and really clean.
I love Komiza because it's just so peaceful and I love these apartments!

Impeccably clean, perfectly located gorgeous apartments in the beautiful town of Komiza. Fani (and her family) are exceptionally helpful. Don't miss the Blue Cave and cycling/scootering around the island! A stunning place to relax.

We’ve booked the apartment in January 2015 for end of July 2015 and we've paid 140 euros in advance - price for two nights of seven booked. Objective circumstances on our work made us cancel almost 1 month before dates of arrival and we kindly asked for return of money or at least some part. All we got was totally not understanding from the owner and answer saying that they have not understanding for people who don't know what they want and book and cancel as they like… It's up to you whether you want to have business with this kind of landlord for summer vacation …

The place and location were great, but the owner was not very friendly. I would have appreciated if she were nicer. The service is the most important thing. The place was clean but when issues arose was when the attitude started.

We were staying in the 1st floor apartment for 1 week in early September and we can only confirm what was written before…..very clean, well appointed and in a perfect location.
So, if you decide to come to Komiza, we can absolutely recommend Apartments Dubra.
(…do not forget the mosquito repellent)

About the note with the hidden gem and the magical place I’m not really sure.
Komiza is already discovered and the residents know exactly how to dig after our money. I even would say, that Komiza offers less quality and is 20-30 % higher prices than other similar places in Croatia…..but do your own experiences.

Komiza on Vis is a very nice place to relax and spend a few days (or weeks) experiencing a small town that has not yet succumbed to mass tourism. Also, Komiza is a very good base for swimming, hiking, mountain biking and a trip to see Blue Grotto on Bisevo (a small, but a nice attraction). This said, the apartment Dubra is great place to stay. It is just one block from the Town beach and two best restaurants in Komiza, it is a 5 minute walk to the town center, bus etc. Our host, Persina could not have been more welcoming. The apartment was spotless and very functional.

We chose Komiza (or Comisa?) instead of Vis town because we wanted a relaxing and quiet experience. We're so glad we did and that we stayed at Apartmani Dubra for 3 nights in mid-October. Booking and email exchange went well. There was a misunderstanding about our arrival date which is partly my fault. The Rosemary room, which we'd reserved for more space, was not available that first night, but luckily they weren't at capacity so upon arrival, she gave us the choice of other suite apartments. SHe suggested the top floor lavender since it has the best view. It really was so relaxing to sit out on the spacious balcony any time of day. The bed was the most comfortable of the trip (a type of firm foam) and the space was as advertized (the clothes-drying rack outside is super practical too). We felt like it wasn't worth moving to rosemary (trouble for us and the hosts), especially since there wasn't much noise from below (their family living space is below) on the first morning. But the next 2 mornings (weekend) were noisier and we realized the rosemary apartment is in a separate building in the garden. The view wouldn't have been as nice but it may have been quieter. Plus, even though I'm only 5'4", I hit my head on the sloping ceilings in lavender. It was my fault - I was wearing a hat and reached down for something that shouldn't have been in that corner. I hit it so hard it cracked the plaster. My husband went down to ask for an ice pack and they helpfully obliged. The space in the bathroom is really small (tall people may be quite scrunched between the toilet and door) but us compact people were ok. THe location is great - it's less than 5-minute walk down the "main street" (pedestrian only) from the main part of the tiny town. You can't get lost. There are a couple of restaurants 1 minute away. One of these, Konoba Bako, was suggested by Fani as the best fish restaurant in town. We went there our first night and were disappointed. (I will post a review under the restaurant). All of our other meals in Croatia were better and less expensive. Perhaps it was just a fluke. Wifi is spotty so just try again later if it doesn't pop up in your list.

Just a 2 minute stroll from the centre, Apartments Dubra are built around the owners' garden, with the ground floor apartments having lovely little covered patios that lead onto it and the 1st and 2nd floor ones having balconies. The owners are lovely, helpful people and the apartment we had was spacious, spotlessly clean and well fitted out.
Overall, a great place to stay in Komiza.

We stayed here 5 nights.

Our ground floor apartment was clean, well appointed and great value. The owners were very friendly. Location is excellent: about 3 minutes from the beach, and 4 minutes to the centre of Komiza itself.

Vis is the most beautiful part of Croatia, and Komiza is the most beautiful part of Vis.

I'd recommend these apartments. And if you're wondering whether to travel to Vis - do so as soon as possible - because the world and his wife will soon find out about this magical place. For the moment, though, it's our secret!

We took a cab from Vis to Komiza, it was only $15 or $20. There a couple of places to rent scooters, but we didn't, so I don't have a recommendation. You will love Vis island and Komiza, but please keep the secret to yourself.

"We asked for Lavender based on the photos of the balcony - and in fact it must be the best terrace in Komiza. Spacious and with an incredible view to the west. (Low ceilings, though, since it's under the gabled roof.)"
