We stayed just one night but the host was really friendly, the room and the entire house were interesting in a mix of antiques and quirkiness. Lovely garden too. We booked a room with Rhine view but there is a railway line between the hotel and the river. Thanks to excellent insulation we hardly heard the trains though.
This is such a lovely, friendly, family run hotel. Our room was at the back, overlooking the vineyards so we didn't hear the trains. Lorch was a lovely town with a lot of restaurants to pick from. We ended up having our best meal on our trip so far at Lorch. The breakfast at the hotel was also lovely. It's not a 5* hotel, but very good value for money
The only drawback to this hotel is the railway line between our room and the Rhine. It was not too noisy though as the windows are double-glazed. The hotel resembles a residential house. The proprietor was very friendly, and was happy to answer all our questions about the region.
We had a family gathering and stood at Ehemaliges Burghotel. Nice, warm and friendly welcome by the owner. Charming old house, renovated with taste. Lightful breakfast room - perfect and complete breakfast, fresh bread and good service. Just hard to sleep with rails just opposite to the house - the whole valley at this part if the Rhine suffers hard train traffic whole nights through. Almost impossible to keep the windows open - wonder how they handle this situation during summertime. The owners do their best, though, to make it a nice stay. Personally, I rather disliked the cities and villages around - kind of "has been" to rather dead. Bingen is in my Top 10 of most hidious places in the world...
A splendid romantic turreted house on the banks of the Rhine. There are excellent views across the river to the hills and vineyards beyond. The owners went out of their way to give us good and friendly service. The quality of the cuisine is first-class and the rooms spacious and comfortable. Lorch is a typical small Rhineland town, quiet and unspoilt, and makes an ideal centre for those wishing to explore this beautiful part of Germany. Rail, road and ferry connections are very good and walkers in particular will find plenty to keep them happy.
