The Occidental Alicante boasts a prime location that many guests appreciate for its proximity to beaches and local attractions, though some have raised concerns about noise. While the rooms earn praise for their cleanliness and comfortable beds, guests have noted a lack of amenities such as kettles and consistent temperature control. The hotel's cleanliness and friendly staff receive commendations; however, the value proposition is somewhat diminished by additional charges and missing expected conveniences. Travelers enjoy the central setting and are generally pleased with the service, but some feel the atmosphere is marred by the absence of certain facilities and nighttime noise.

We chose this hotel because of its location in the centre of Alicante, very convenient as the beach and restaurants are walking distance from it -the market is actually 2min away. Every member of the staff made us feel welcomed and helped out whenever we needed. The room does not just looked great but the bed was actually super comfy and the A/C came very handy as it was really hot outside.
Breakfast buffet was my favourite as it had a lot of different stuff to choose from plus it was included in the price of the room, great deal! I would absolutely recommend.

A really good stay! This hotel is in a really convenient location, just on the road opposite the Mercado, and at the top of The Rambla - lots of restaurants and bars within easy walking distance, as well as the beach, castle, museums and shopping centre.

Yes the rooms are small, but we don’t go on a city break to Alicante to sit in a hotel room, and it was plenty big enough for the two of us, plus had room to store luggage and clothing.

The room was serviced and cleaned daily with clean towels, and bedding if you requested it. The staff always said hello when we passed by the reception, and were helpful upon checking in.

We had no problems with noise at all, and slept very well…. In fact we questioned laughingly if we were the only people about!

We didn’t opt for breakfast, as there are so many cafes and restaurants in the area, we’d rather try different things every day. The lobby had a small shop with coffee for €2 - there are no tea of coffee making facilities in the room.

All in, it was a very pleasant stay - the rooms seem to be newly decorated … I think there are tiny issues like stains on the wall near the sink, and maybe tiles need to be added to stop them getting any worse, and there is only a small bin in the bathroom, but these are minuscule things, and did not affect our stay at all.

We would definitely stay here again, it was a great stay!

Our stay at the Occidental Hotel was simply incredible! The hotel has a perfect location: right in one of the main streets. The rooms are soundproof, so you won't hear any noise from the streets or from neighbours. The daily breakfast offers a great variety of all kinds of food. A part of it varies per day. The hotel staff is very nice and polite. They will answer every question/request you give them. We would definitely recommend staying at this hotel!

If you are looking for a clean, modern, safe, good value, centrally located 4 star hotel in Alicante, then look no further. We are on our third visit in as many months. The rooms are well appointed with HUGE beds and all the facilities you would expect in a hotel of this rating. The staff are, without exception, very friendly yet professional and their attention to detail in respect of covid safeguards is very reassuring. The breakfasts have something for everyone and are great value. For a weekend (or why not midweek) break in this lovely city with its many attractions I think we have discovered the perfect base- a real gem!

We had a very good stay at the Occidental Alicante and wouldn't hesitate to stay here again the next time we are in Alicante. The location of the hotel is very good, about a 10 minute walk to the Marina, 10 minutes to the Old town and Castilla Saint Barbara, 5 minutes to the Central Market and 5 minutes to the Tram Line 1 station (Benidorm Line) There are a number of cafes and bars very close to the Hotel. We chose not to have breakfast, however, it did look and smell good. If you choose not to have breakfast there are ample cafes located near the hotel.
The Hotel is located in a narrow road in the Centre of Alicante, all the staff were very friendly and helpful. The foyer is clean and comfortable and offers space to sit and relax, there isn't a bar at the Hotel. The rooms whilst not large are still a reasonable size, offering very large, very comfortable beds. The shape of the rooms are not standard, so it is a bit of pot luck to the bed positioning and how large the window is. The room we had 508 was very quiet, clean and comfortable and both myself and my husband had a good nights sleep. The rooms are cleaned each day and you can have your towels changed daily if you wish. The shower in the bathroom is very large and the bathroom is fairly spacious. There are sockets on each side of the bed and USB charging points on the dressing/desk table. My only disappointment with the room is that there is not a kettle for tea and coffee, however, you can purchase a coffee from the foyer coffee machine for 2€. There is a safe in the room and also a fridge.

Dear Guest, We appreciate that you took the time to share your experience with us. We regret to hear that the absence of a kettle in your room did not meet your expectations. Our O!Market service is available for a variety of drinks and snacks, which many of our guests find convenient. However, we understand the comfort a kettle can provide and will take your feedback into consideration for future improvements. It is delightful to learn that the hotel's central location greatly contributed to the enjoyment of your stay, offering easy access to the Marina, Old Town, Central Market, and the Tram Line 1 station. We are also pleased to note that the variety of nearby cafes and bars enhanced your experience. Your recognition of the room comfort and cleanliness is highly appreciated, as we strive to provide a welcoming and well-maintained environment for our guests. Furthermore, the staff at Occidental Alicante takes great pride in offering friendly and helpful service, and it is rewarding to know that this was a highlight during your visit. We hope to welcome you back. All the best. Rocío López, Reception Department.

We had a 5 night stay at this hotel and whilst the location was good (a short walk down to the main restaurants and the front) there were a few things that to me felt like it should be a 3 star. Firstly, there were no tea/coffee facilities in the room, there is a machine in the lobby and you can get a coffee or tea there for 2euros but it is the inconvenience of having to go down to get this when all you fancy is a coffee or tea when you wake!
The hotel is very easy to get to from Alicante airport, we took a bus on level 2 out of Alicante airport; head down to the end and you will see a number of different bus shelters with various locations (Alicante, Benidorm etc) you pay on the bus by card and it is 3.85 euros per person (you have to wear a mask). The bus takes about 40 minutes and you need to stay on the bus until it heads onto a sort of flyover with the castle on your left, once the bus has gone around the castle you will end up on a dual carriageway and if you look for the Eurostars Lucentum hotel on the left, this is where you need to get off. Cross over the dual carriageway and turn left, head up 2 or 3 streets and the hotel is on the right hand side.
Unfortunately, we needed to change rooms 3 times in our 5 night stay! The first room albeit nice and large with a lovely, clean large bathroom (no baths in any of the rooms just showers which are great) the room smelt so strongly of smoke, not the hotels fault, this is obviously down to some inconsiderate people who think its ok to smoke in a non-smoking facility! Anyway staff on reception were very helpful and moved our room and again whilst the room was very clean, it was smaller than the first with a smaller bathroom but unfortunately it was at the front of the hotel and was very noisy throughout the night; traffic seems to head down this road into the main part of town and it did not stop. Again, staff were lovely and moved our room to 704 which was a room at the back of the hotel and smaller again, however, the bathroom was bigger (so a bit of inconsistency in the room/bathroom sizes). I felt like Goldilocks - the third was perfect or so I thought until I nearly suffocated with the heat during the night! The room was absolutely stifling, we had a very small narrow window which we had to keep open all night thankfully as at the back of the hotel it was quiet enough to do. There is a fan of sorts in the room however, even set to the ice symbol and on high, nothing happened.

Dear Guest, We appreciate that you took the time to share your experience with us. We are sad to read your comment about having a kettle in the room, as at Occidental Alicante we have a kettle available at reception for all guests. If you had let us know during your stay, we could have left one in your room. For a future occasion, please do not hesitate to contact us with any questions you may have. On the other hand we would like to thank you for your kind words towards our staff, especially regarding the réception. As all of them work very hard, striving to surpass guest expectations, we will definitely pass on your satisfaction with their services. They will surely celebrate that you wrote that they were very nice and most helpful. We are also glad that you were satisfied with the beds and the cleanliness of the hotel. We hope to have the opportunity to welcome you again very soon. Kind regards, Zaira López - Guest Experience

We stayed just for one night. We reserved one double room and one single room and I received an email a few days before asking for preferences of floor, type of bed etc. We were given two rooms on the top floor, both with terrace which was perfect. The staff were very friendly and I had a call to my room just after check in to ask if everything was ok. The bed was so comfortable that I just didn not want to leave and the rain shower had a perfect temperature and pressure. The wi fi was fast and the breakfast was excellent. The hotel is just opposite the central market so is in a perfect location for visiting Alicante. If you drive into town, they have a discount agreement with a nearby public car park. This was the first time I have stayed here, but it is now my number one choice in Alicante.

I was made to feel very welcome when I arrived, and I was able to access my room before the usual check in time which I appreciated. The reception staff were very helpful and flexible. Very good value breakfast - recommended. The room wasn't large but clean and modern, and it was good to have patio doors on to the balcony making it feel airy.

The very central location is also a big plus. No negatives - and I would definitely recommend it - and I hope to stay there again next year.

I enjoyed my stay at this hotel, having stayed before prior to its recent change of ownership and refurbishment.

The highlight was undoubtedly the friendly and helpful staff, from those working at reception to those assisting at breakfast. It was good to be able to practise speaking my basic Spanish!

The food at breakfast was exceptional with a good variety of items, freshly prepared, and you could eat as much as you like. The coffee was excellent.

My room was comfortable, though after a few nights I arranged for a change of rooms as the single room that I had faced the street which did become quite noisy at night. The room change was sorted very quickly and without hassle by the reception staff.

I would definitely stay in the hotel again, choosing an interior room as I am something of a light sleeper.

My partner and I chose the Occidental Alicante for our two-week stay. Location: 200m from the renowned Mercado, it has a great location to have public services at your fingertips including the bus (5 and 8 that stop right at the exit of the hotel), the tram (ie the metro) 200m, taxi stand 100m. Also clubs including supermarkets, bars, various stores, pharmacy and so on are all just under 3 minutes walk away so in general it is really perfect to take advantage of all you need. In addition, the beach (Playa del Postiguet) can be easily reached on foot in less than 10 minutes (or in 3 minutes via the buses that stop there in front). The hotel: looks great with the staff (mostly all female) friendly, courteous and helpful for a total of 8 floors with access via double lift and stairs. Rooms of about 30sqm with double bed, fridge, capsule coffee machine, huge shower, sanitary ware (only in some there is also a bidet), excellent air conditioning and TV (only channels in Spanish, German and English). Breakfast (in our case) included and super plentiful with sweet and savory available. In conclusion it is a really great place and strategically located that allows maximum relaxation day and night. Highly Recommendation for those who want to have a great holiday.
