I had the very best experience staying at the Mokkoan for 5 nights. It is located in a residential area but is also right next to the train and minutes away from anywhere in Tokyo. I consider it the best of both worlds. The property...More
What a wonderful quiet garden setting in the middle of a bustling megalopolis. Only a few stops from Tokyo. The sincerely kind couple who own and operate the Inn have a long family history in this quiet section of Itabashi and enjoy the mix of...More
I stayed at the Mokkoan Ryokan in September last year and enjoyed the hospitality of Ito-san and his family. They really made me feel at home. The breakfast was also fantastic. I will likely stay there again this year.
We had a wonderful time at Mokkoan Ryokan!
Mr and mrs Ito were amazing. We felt we visit our beloved relatives, but unlike real relatives - they know when to be there for you, and when to leave you be.

Akabane / Itabashi
In Akabane and Itabashi, visitors can get a glimpse of the ordinary day-to-day life of Tokyo. On the east side of Akabane station, there are many traditional shopping districts and small izakayas, while on the west side, there’s a modern shopping mall. Itabashi is currently being developed as a residential area with a huge 1.1km long shopping street that extends from east to west. Rows of shops and izakayas target the down to
earth everyday needs of locals. Both Akabane and Itabashi are notable for their easy access to the city center as well as their proximity to Ikebukuro.
